Our team is trained to assist law enforcement in many ways, including conducting detailed evidence searches. These missions require patience, precision, teamwork, and attention to detail as we carefully search difficult terrain for critical pieces of evidence.

Whether we're helping bring someone home or supporting an investigation, we're proud to serve our community in every way we can.

🎒 Are You Ready to Go?

Emergencies can happen with little warning. Whether it's a wildfire, flood, or other natural disaster, having a Go Bag packed and ready can help keep you and your family safe.

Your Go Bag should include:
✅ Water and non-perishable snacks
✅ Prescription medications and a basic first aid kit
✅ Flashlight and extra batteries
✅ Phone charger or power bank
✅ Important documents (copies) in a waterproof bag
✅ Change of clothes and sturdy shoes
✅ Personal hygiene items
✅ Cash and emergency contacts
✅ Pet supplies, if needed
✅ Way ti communicate ie radios

Plan ahead, stay informed, and be ready to leave at a moment's notice if evacuation becomes necessary.

☀️ Heat Safety Reminder ☀️

With temperatures climbing, we encourage everyone to take extra precautions while enjoying the outdoors.

💧 Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
🧢 Wear lightweight clothing and seek shade whenever possible.
🌡️ Know the signs of heat-related illness, including dizziness, confusion, excessive sweating (or no sweating), nausea, and rapid heartbeat.

If you or someone else begins experiencing these symptoms, don't wait—seek help immediately.

Missing Camper – Community Assistance Requested

The Marion County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue (SAR) team is actively searching for 68-year-old John Nelson, who was reported overdue after a camping trip in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness near Russell Lake.

John was reported overdue by a family friend shortly after noon on July 7.

He is described as:
• 68 years old
• 6’1”
• Approximately 200 pounds
• Last seen wearing a light blue jacket, jeans, and carrying a light blue day pack

We are asking anyone who has been in the area over the past several days to please take a moment to think back and contact us if you saw John or noticed anything that may assist search teams please contact the Marion County Dispatch Center at 503-588-5032.

Our Search and Rescue volunteers and partner agencies are actively searching the area. Please allow our teams to conduct their operations safely and avoid entering the search area at this time.

Please share this post to help reach hikers, campers, and anyone who may have been in the area recently.

While many are enjoying the holiday, our dedicated Search and Rescue volunteers remain ready to answer the call—day or night, whenever our community needs us. Our team is always prepared to respond with professionalism, teamwork, and commitment.

Missing Person Update: Located

This evening, deputies with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office received information from a caller who found Ann Chase‘s car in a ravine near NW Thompson Road and NW 53rd Drive in Portland. Ann has been missing since Sunday morning and was discovered deceased inside her car.

Ann’s family has been notified of her death and has asked for privacy. The manner and cause of her death will be determined by the Medical Examiner.

A detective from the Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene, and foul play is not suspected.

Deputies are asking the public to be on the lookout for Ann Chase, who left her home in Bethany early this morning. Ann is driving a red 2016 Mazda CX5 with Oregon plate 410HQF. If you have seen Ann at all today, please call non-emergency at 503-629-011 or 911.
