We also want to thank the many volunteers, paramedics, emts and staff that dedicated such compassionate care to our patients. Your work was appreciated, meaningful and life changing.
Additionally we want to express our appreciation for the support from the Veterans of VFW Post 764, Peters Township, Peters Township Police, Peters Township Fire Department, and our many mutual aid EMS partners.
We extend best wishes to AHN EMS and are confident that they will continue our legacy of emergency medical care to our community.

Santa Claus stopped by our base in desperate need of help. He said that Rudolph has been feeling under the weather, and his nose was not shining so bright. We’re happy to say that we were able to give him a jump start and send him on his merry way.

We hope you all have a safe and happy holiday!

It is with a mix of disappointment and deep pride that we share an important update with our community.
The Peters Township Council has decided to move on from the VFW-owned and operated ambulance service. While we are saddened to see this chapter come to a close, VFW Post 764 fully respects the Council’s decision.

Our ambulance service began in 1963, founded by Peters Township veterans who believed their duty to serve did not end when they came home. Those early veterans went door to door across the Township, raising the funds needed to purchase our very first ambulance. It wasn’t easy, but this community stood with us. Together, we built a lifesaving service from the ground up, created by the people of Peters Township, for the people of Peters Township.

For more than six decades, our veteran-led crews responded day and night to medical emergencies, and accidents, and moments when people needed us most. We served proudly, humbly, and without hesitation, continuing our commitment to safeguarding others both overseas and here at home.

We were also honored to be one of the remaining VFW owned and operated ambulance services in the entire country, a rare legacy built on service, patriotism, and community trust.

We want to especially recognize the McMurray family, whose dedication spans generations.
Tom, our longtime Director, devoted countless years to leading the ambulance service with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to Peters Township. His father was one of the original veterans who helped establish the ambulance service in 1963, a legacy of service carried proudly through the McMurray family.
Tom and Sandy’s children followed in those footsteps as well, becoming members of the ambulance service and continuing a tradition of service that spanned three generations.

We also want to express our deepest appreciation to all of our current crews and office staff.
These incredible men and women continued the mission with professionalism, compassion, and steadfast dedication. Their efforts, on the streets responding to emergencies, and behind the scenes ensuring everything ran smoothly, upheld the values and spirit of Post 764 every single day.

The decision to end this chapter is difficult, but the legacy of what was built will always remain. The VFW Post 764 family is profoundly grateful for the trust this community placed in us since 1963. Serving Peters Township has been one of the greatest honors we could ask for.

Thank you for allowing us to serve, and for standing with us from the very beginning. 🇺🇸

The fate of Peters Township Ambulance Service is in jeopardy.

For the past 62 years the members and employees of Memorial Park VFW Post 764 (Peters Township) Ambulance Service have been providing high quality Emergency Medical Services for Peters Township and its surrounding areas. With growing operational costs, and diminishing rates of returns from insurance, the VFW is no longer able to support the financial burden of operating the ambulance service without outside assistance.

On Monday 12/1/25, during the Township Meeting, council will be hearing proposals from two competing ambulance services to outsource ambulance coverage for Peters Township. Peters Township is one of the best communities, and its residents deserve their own internal dedicated, high quality emergency medical service agency operated by the township. The township has its own Fire Department, and Police Department, it deserves its own ambulance service.

Please plan to attend this council meeting to show your support for the men and women of Peters Township Ambulance. If you are unable to attend, you can alternatively reach out to your township council member and voice your support for the ambulance service to become a department of the township.

We are currently seeking a Part Time EMT with the potential for advancement to Full Time. Currently we are looking to upstaff and add additional truck on the weekends, so some weekend availability is preferred. Most available shifts are in 8 hour or 16 hour increments with the possibility of set days. Our primary focus is to be available for our residents in their time of need, so we are a primary 911 service. However, occasionally we will take a Non Emergency transfer back into our area. If you feel you may be a good fit, please reach out or call our Base at (724) 941-4700 or you can email your resume to [email protected]

07/11/2025

We have received notice that there are statewide intermittent issues with the 911 system. In the event of an emergency you can still reach the Washington County 911 center via their non emergency number (724) 229-4600.

Peters Township EMS had a great evening hosting Girl Scout Troop 17038 for an ambulance tour, and hands-on learning experiences!

With 10 Junior level Girl Scouts and several scout leaders in attendance, the event helped build a stronger understanding of emergency medical services, what to do during a real-life emergency, and essential first aid skills.

It’s always an honor to support our community and help the next generation learn lifesaving skills!
