As a reminder !

Today as part of the education of vehicle operators, Police Departments along the SR 19 corridor in the South Hills will be conducting an education and enforcement initiative, stopping any drivers observed using their cell phones, even at a red light, to warn about the dangers of distracted driving.

Under PA’s new distracted driving law, known as Paul Miller’s law, drivers can be fined for using any mobile device while driving. That includes taking a quick scroll break at a red light or when stuck in
traffic!

🎉Congratulations to the Peters Township Police Department’s School Resource Officers! 🎉

We’re proud to share that our SRO team has been honored with the NASRO Model Agency Award — a national-level recognition presented by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO).

This award recognizes only a select group of law enforcement agencies across the United States and Canada that demonstrate verified excellence in their School Resource Officer programs.

The NASRO Model Agency Award is based on the NASRO “Triad” approach, highlighting the exceptional role of SROs as:
▪️Law enforcement officers
▪️Public safety educators
▪️Informal counselors and mentors

Receiving this honor means the Peters Township Police Department is recognized as a model program — setting a standard for school-based policing and student safety practices nationwide.

We’re incredibly proud of our SROs for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to keeping our schools safe, supported, and thriving.

As we wrap up the week we want to proudly recognize Telecommunications Week and extend our sincere gratitude to the voices behind the scenes—our 911 dispatchers.

Every call you take, every detail you relay, and every decision you make plays a vital role in keeping both our officers and our residents safe.

We are grateful for your commitment and honored to work alongside you.

Thank you for all that you do—today and every day.
