**UPDATE**
Weekends Stats from the SHERIFF's OFFICE (no city police departments or Kansas Highway Patorl).
During 18 hours of OPERATION ZERO enforcement, 66 vehicles were contacted.
During the operation, the following roadways saw traffic stops conducted:
Interstate 135
US 56 Highway
KS 61 Highway
Old 81 Highway
Cherokee Rd
Pawnee Rd
Shawnee Rd
Old 81 Bypass
14th Ave
22nd Ave
27th Ave
During the operation, the following violations were addressed:
Speeding
Racing on Roadway
Improper Turn
Improper Lane Use
Defective Equipment
Adult Seatbelt Use
Unsafe Passing
In total, from Saturday June 6 to Sunday June 7, the Sheriff's Office conducted 83 enforcement stops addressing the above violations, as well as the following:
Driving While Suspended
Drug Possession
Texting While Driving
Driving Without a Valid License
Permitting Unauthorized Drivers
Warrant Arrest
**ORIGINAL POST**
Starting June 6, 2026 the McPherson County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Kansas Highway Patrol and Kansas Department of Transportation ,will take part in "Operation Zero".
This project is a traffic enforcement project focused on saving lives.
This project runs with an aggressive Zero Tolerance policy specifically for speeding, unrestrained occupants, aggressive/antagonistic driving and impaired driving.
All violators stopped during this enforcement period will be cited or jailed depending on the severity of the offense. This enforcement efforts will take place in June, July and August.
If you endanger yourself or others on our roadways, the consequences can be catastrophic. If you drive impaired, we will find you and if you run, we will catch you. If you are one that drives safely, we give thanks to you.
The GOAL, is no more empty seats at the table. No more unnecessary grief for families because of a senseless, preventable tragedy.
