Registration is now open for the summer reading program! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

In honor of the United States Semiquincentennial, this summer’s theme is “Stars, Stripes, and Stories” - a commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Students Pre-K to Grade 8 may be registered in-person at the library during any open hours.

The events this morning began with a fun-filled Story Hour and Craft that also gave a nod to Trimble, the McVeytown Goose. 🪿

In addition, the day included open houses for both the library and McVeytown Museum.

What a wonderful time celebrating with all generations of our community!

Welcome to the flock, Trimble!

Today we gathered for a dedication ceremony to celebrate the landing of “Trimble - The McVeytown Goose.” Named in honor of Dr. Joseph T. (“Trimble”) Rothrock, a McVeytown native and Founder of Forestry in Pennsylvania, the statue gives tribute to the history and current landscape of McVeytown. The artwork was completed by local artist Carley Mattern, and the statue itself is part of ’ Wild Geese: Flock Together public art project, which honors our region’s Goose Day tradition.

A huge thank you to all those who attended! We are grateful for the many community members who contributed to the McVeytown Goose fundraiser, Penn State Construction, J&D LLC for their work on the installation, Affordable Auto Body for sealant, and the McVeytown Borough.

Honk honk! We will be hosting our next Story Hour and Craft event THIS Saturday (April 25) at 10 AM in the children’s library. Afterwards, join us for the dedication ceremony of the McVeytown Goose statue, which will begin at 11 AM and is part of Community Partnerships’ Wild Geese: Flock Together public art project.🪿🪿🪿

These events will also coincide with an open house in honor of the most recent renovations to the library.
