BUT the statewide burn ban goes until April 10th. No you cannot burn.

UPDATE 1PM: The Governor has lifted the ban and you can burn with permit in Mead district now

We will be opening up our firehall tonight for stranded motorists. The doors will be open all night and the generator will be on if the power goes out. Everyone is welcome to stay.

At 07:38 this morning Mead Fire & Rescue along with dual response from Yutan Fire & Rescue was called to Highway 77 and P. Was first called in as a possible explosion and then multiple calls of an injury accident. Life net was put on standby with additional squads called from Wahoo Rescue. Once command got on scene everyone was cancelled and Mead handled as nobody was transported from the scene. The incident was a near head on. Mead responded with 2 squads, engine, command truck, 203 and 201.

Busy weekend. 5:13pm today Mead Fire along with dual response from Yutan Fire were called to a structure fire in the area on co rd 10 and 8th street in Mead. Investigation shows obvious signs of accidental cause by ways of a burn barrel. Crews were back in service around 6:00pm…..Missing only part of the first half of the Super Bowl!!
