This investment will help meet the growing public safety needs of our community!

The Town of Mead has been awarded a $600,000 grant through the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) Energy and Mineral Impact Assistance Fund (EIAF) to support construction of the Town’s new police station.

The funding will help advance Mead’s new approximately 20,000-square-foot police facility, planned on Town-owned property, west of I-25, near the Liberty Ranch subdivision. The project is currently in final design.

The new police facility will provide the space, infrastructure, and operational capacity needed to support modern law enforcement services, secure evidence handling, legal compliance requirements, and safe working conditions for both staff and the public.

Community Notification: Wildlife Activity Near the Feather Ridge Estates Neighborhood

There have been three recent, confirmed incidents involving an aggressive coyote observed along the trail, particularly near the southeast corner close to the railroad tracks and the large electrical pole. Based on the behavior reported, it appears the coyote may be acting in a protective manner. To avoid any potential danger, we respectfully ask that all residents stay away from this section of the trail for the next several days while the situation is monitored.

The Department of Wildlife has been notified and is aware of the activity. Thank you for helping ensure the safety of our community.

Today on Peace Officers Memorial Day, we honor the courage, sacrifice and service of law enforcement officers who gave their lives in the line of duty.

At Thursday’s Peace Officer Memorial Service in Longmont, Mead PD Commander Brian Smith spoke on the topic of “Light,” saying:

“You are the light. You are the reason order exists within the chaos. You shine for those who cannot shine for themselves. You hold the line.” 💙
