MVFD also has Fire Agreements with the State of California, the Office of Emergency Services (OES) and the US Forest Service. There are no state run (Cal-Fire) fire protection stations within Plumas County, only US Forest Service, therefore MVFD responds to all vegetation/wildfires within our district. MVFD operates one Type 1 engine, one Type 2 engine, one Type 3 engine, two water tenders, and one rescue/medical vehicle. Our immediate community has a pop. of about 500, with 225 structures. It is surrounded by US Forest Service land of mixed conifer forest, at an elevation of 3,800 feet. Our station is located on Bucks Lake Road, (County Road #411) which is designated as a Federal disaster evacuation route. There is only one small fire hydrant in Meadow Valley, so the need for our water tenders (tankers) is very important.

Traffic is being diverted through Spanish Ranch. Roads are very icy and we’ve had reports of downed trees. Please be careful and avoid going out if possible. UPDATE as of 10:30am. PG&E will need to swag a new line and are awaiting assistance from another crew. Road detour is still up through Spanish Ranch and will remain for some time. You can still get through Meadow Valley by going through the Ranch and through the Pineleaf Subdivision.
