As flow requirements exceeded 2,000 gpm at a recent fire, water supply #3 was created using twin TurboDrafts. Thank you Saegertown Fire Dept. for the use of your engine and operator.

West Mead #1 Responds to Multi-Alarm Country Club Fire

Friday afternoon, just before 4:00 p.m., West Mead #1 was dispatched as part of a multi-alarm response to assist West Mead #2 Volunteer Fire Department with a working fire at The Country Club. West Mead #1 responded with 28-12, 28-13, and 28-15 on the initial wave of equipment.

28-12 and 28-13 were assigned to establish a secondary water supply at the intersection of Morris Road and Route 86. Once the water supply was established, the two engines supplied 28-15, which assumed the role of nurse tanker. Crews were able to move in excess of 1,000 gallons of water per minute for several hours.

During this operation, the TurboDraft systems were removed from 28-12 and transferred to a Saegertown engine, which utilized them to establish a third water supply.

Following consultation with the Meadville Area Water Authority, operations transitioned from hydrant-based water supply to a tanker shuttle operation. Shortly after 6:00 p.m., tanker task force alarms were dispatched. While tankers were responding, the dump tank carried by 28-15 was deployed, along with a second dump tank from Cochranton. Tanker shuttle operations continued for several additional hours.

West Mead #1 members returned to quarters shortly before 2:00 a.m.

We also extend our heartfelt thoughts to everyone impacted by this incident and wish The Country Club a safe and speedy recovery.

To everyone who supports West Mead firefighters, thank you. Your generosity is at work in our community.

🚨⚡️ Second Chance at Life Lotto ⚡️
www.westmead1.com/180213/
100 tix at $12 apiece

Everybody deserves a second chance. This raffle offers two.

When someone goes into sudden cardiac arrest, the heart’s electrical system falls into a chaotic rhythm and stops pumping blood. Every minute without defibrillation lowers the odds of survival, which is why an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is one of the most important tools a first responder carries. It analyzes the heart’s rhythm on its own, talks the rescuer through every step with voice prompts, and delivers a shock only if one is needed. No medical degree required. Just stand clear and let it work.

The LifePak AED gives people a second chance at life. We’re offering a second chance at The Game of Life. Instead of spinning the wheel and hoping for the Payday space, you’ll be scratching your way through a full book of PA Lottery’s The Game of Life scratch-offs. Retirement at Millionaire Acres is optional. Having a good time is guaranteed.

Your donations power our emergency medical responses. Thank you!

For your $12.00 donation you will receive 1 chance to win the Second Chance at Life Lotto package.

Numbers immediately above and below the winning number(s) receive 1 free ticket on an upcoming raffle.
