Thank you very much to the Crawford County Board of Commissioners for the proclamation of National Library Week and steadfast support of libraries in Crawford County!

Pictured below are Commissioners Scott Schell and Eric Henry, CCFLS CEO Jessica Hilburn, and Commissioner Chris Seeley.

The proclamation reads:

Whereas, public library stand as bulwark institutions in their respective communities, offering not only opportunities for reading and research, but serving as invaluable conduits to social services, career enhancement, and educational growth at no cost to consumers, and;

Whereas, since its establishment in 1978, the Crawford County Federated Library System has grown to encompass nine diverse, vibrant, and active libraries throughout the county, and;

Whereas, the wide variety of services offered by our local libraries reach tens of thousands of visitors annually, enhancing their lives, fueling their minds, expanding their intellectual and creative opportunities, and offering the social connections that are such an integral component of the human condition.

Now, therefore, be it proclaimed that the Commissioners of Crawford County do hereby proclaim April 19th through April 25th, 2026 as National Library Week in Crawford County.

Be it further proclaimed that we graciously offer our thanks to the scores of library workers and volunteers across the country, and Crawford County in particular, and that we earnestly encourage all Crawford Countians to visit their local libraries, meet the staff, discover the programming and services that are offered, and give recognition to the value and worth of these beloved community assets. Visit a library, and "Find Your Joy."

CCFLS now has a YouTube Channel! We have posted a few how-to videos to help your Libby experience be even better. Check out the new videos on how to check all libraries with just one button, check out an item from CCFLS or from a partner library, and how to use "notify me" tags to let us know what materials we don't have and you want!

New Castle District Library Center is no longer part of the Reciprocal Lending Agreement for the SNOE Region Libraries, which includes CCFLS Libraries. Libby users in Crawford County will still be able to use the collections from Crawford, Erie, Seneca, and Oil Creek without interruption. We are excited to continue building our collections with new titles for you to read!

Big thanks to Bill Taylor from Townville VFD & Ambulance Service for certifying some of our CCFLS library staff in CPR and AED this week! Our libraries are committed to continuing our education to serve our communities, especially in moments of crisis.

Over the next 6 weeks, each library in CCFLS will be helping facilitate community feedback for the county's comprehensive plan! Please stop in to your home library while the installation is there to give your input. The first three libraries currently up and running for the next two weeks are Linesville, Saegertown, and Cochranton with the rest coming soon!

At our most recent meeting, we awarded the Crawford County Federated Library System with the proceeds from our 2022 “Under the Big Top” Halloween parade.

We thank all of the sponsors, participants, and supporters of the parade who made this donation possible. We also thank the Crawford County Federated Library System for all they do across our county.
