Good Morning Mississippi!
Here's an updated forecast of the expected cold weather that's set to begin TONIGHT (12/22) through Christmas morning!

If you're traveling for the holidays, unplug all Christmas lights and open cabinet doors to circulate air around your pipes in your kitchen, bathroom, and laundry rooms. Leave water dripping in your sinks to help prevent pipes from freezing.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: After completing bridge repairs ahead of schedule, the Delaware Avenue bridge over Interstate 55 in Pike County is now OPEN to motorists.

The bridge was closed on Sunday, Oct. 23 when a vehicle traveling northbound in I-55 struck the Delaware Ave. overpass, damaging the structure. MDOT closed the bridge to traffic as a safety precaution.

To complete bridge repairs, crews removed fractured concrete from the bridge, repaired and replaced rebar and filled in the structure with new concrete. Northbound lanes of I-55 were shifted to one lane in the median near the Delaware Ave. exit to accommodate the repair work. Weather permitting, crews will soon remove barriers and perform restriping to reopen lanes on I-55. READ MORE: bit.ly/3W9VEqW

The National Weather Service has updated the risk map for today's severe weather. No matter your county's color, there is a risk for your area. Strong storms, hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes are all possible. This weather will also occur during the nighttime hours, which causes an even greater risk. The best thing you can do now is STAY INFORMED!

As you give thanks today, please remember those across our state and nation who are serving in a uniform or scrubs. You will find them working the streets, skies, hospitals, correctional facilities, dispatch centers, or wearing the uniform of our nation. As you pass them today on your route to gather with your family, know they sacrifice this and many other holidays to serve and protect the public. We are thankful everyday for these extraordinary servants! We wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Unfortunately Franklin County Fair is cancelled due to the grounds being to wet. We hope to bring a spring fair to Franklin County in late April or May of 2023. We are so very sorry for this hope to see you all next spring.
