The Second District Elementary School

The Second District Elementary School Educating and informing our community in Meadville, PA. Second District Elementary School closed in 2011. This was approved by the state during that same month.

Students were reassigned among other existing schools in Meadville. A large proportion, approximately 40%, went to East End Elementary. A year later, the decision of the local school board was to close East End Elementary School. All students and staff were simply relocated to the vacant Second District Elementary School. However, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, who grants final approval to such matters, declared that the school retain the name East End at least for a year. Throughout the 2012-2013 school year, the School District temporarily referred to the school as East End at Second District Elementary School. However, the School Board voted to change the name back to Second District, effective July 2013. The diverse community extends from Taco Bell to Hillcrest and includes everything in between.

🌟 Many Hands Make Light Work! 🌟

A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped spread the new mulch on our playground! We are so grateful for the incredible community support that helped get the job done. ❤️

A special shout-out to the men who brought their BIG TOYS to help move and spread all that mulch! 🚜 What a difference those machines made!

Thank you to everyone who came out to rake, shovel, spread, and work alongside us, and a heartfelt thank you to our PTO for purchasing the mulch and to all of the families who gave their time and energy to make this project happen. Your hard work directly benefits our students, and we appreciate you more than you know!

We also want to recognize our elementary school staff and their families who also gave their time to help make our playground fresh, safe, and ready for our students to enjoy. 💙

And finally, a VERY special thank you to our PTO President AND kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Caluori, for organizing everything and making this project come together! We are so lucky to have someone who gives so much of her time and heart to our school. 🥰

It truly takes a village, and our village showed up! Thank you to everyone who helped make our playground look amazing! 🛝❤️

🎀 Dolly Day was a SUCCESS! 🎀

Our staff and students had so much fun channeling our inner Dolly Parton! 💕✨ There was a TON of pink, sparkle, glamour, and, of course, plenty of reading!

At 9:25, we stopped everything for “9 to 5” and students enjoyed listening to their teacher read aloud. 📚🎶 It was such a fun way to celebrate Dolly’s love of literacy!

Our staff also had a “Who Wore It Best?” Dolly look-alike contest, and the results were CLOSE! 👏🏼 But in the end, Mrs. Thompson took home the Amazon gift card! 🏆🎀

A special thank-you to Ms. Clements for helping Dr. Trenga plan all the fun and excitement. 💗

What a day! 9 to 5, pink, sparkle, and lots of smiles! 🎀📚✨

Enjoy the pictures! 🩷

We are so excited to celebrate Dolly tomorrow. We can’t wait to see all the pink and sparkles!

🎀 Let’s Dress Like Dolly! 🎀

We are celebrating Dolly Parton and her love of children’s literacy on Friday, September 25th!

To help us celebrate, we are encouraging our students to dress like Dolly! We wanted to share this ahead of time, so families have plenty of time to find something fun for their child to wear.

Anything pink will do! A pink shirt, pink accessories, a little sparkle, big hair, or whatever your child would like to wear to channel their inner Dolly. There is no need to purchase anything special. We simply want to have some fun celebrating Dolly and the importance of reading!

We can’t wait to see our school filled with a little extra pink, sparkle, and Dolly spirit! 💕

💙 Our PTO Needs YOU! 💙

Our PTO plays such an important role in making our school a special place for our students! From fun events and activities to classroom support and new opportunities for our kids, so much of what they do is made possible by parent and family involvement.

You don’t have to commit to everything—even helping with one event, donating an item, sharing an idea, or giving an hour of your time can make a huge difference! 🐾

It truly takes a village, and when we work together, our students are the ones who benefit most. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who supports our PTO and helps make wonderful things happen for our kids! 🏫✨
