The Franklin County Fair is September 3-5, 2026. The Franklin County 4-H Food Booth will be open each evening. We need 4-h participants and parents to come help work the Food Booth each evening. We will especially need help from those that are not associated with livestock on Thursday. We plan to start the Livestock Show at 7:30 Thursday evening. please call the Franklin County Extension Office at 601-384-2349 and let us know when you can work please. We look forward to your help!

4-H youth exhibitors interested in showing their livestock at the upcoming 4-H livestock shows should be aware of the following dates and deadlines:
Franklin County Fair Livestock Show – September 3rd, 2026

Entry/ownership deadline – August 24th 2026

2026 MS State Fair Livestock Shows - October 8th – October 18th, 2026
Mississippi State Fairgrounds, Jackson, MS
Entry/ownership deadline – September 1st, 2026

2027 Southwest District Livestock Shows - January 18 thru February1st, 2027

Entry deadline – December 1st, 2027

2027 Dixie National Junior Roundup – February 1st – February 11th, 2027

PRIVATE PESTICIDE APPLICATOR TRAINING

A private pesticide applicator training will be held 9:00 am -3:00 pm, Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Franklin County Office of the Mississippi State University Extension Service, 20 Walnut Street, Meadville, MS. A private applicator is a certified applicator who uses or supervises the use of restricted-use pesticides to produce an agricultural commodity on his or her own land, leased land, or rented land or on the lands of his or her employer. Private applicators must be at least 18 years of age. This is a 6 hour course and the cost is $60.00 payable to MSUES by check or money order –NO CASH. The registration fee must be paid by the registration deadline of Thursday, July 16th at 5:00 pm. Please call the Franklin County Extension Office at 601-384-2349 to receive more information and to register for this training.
