In response to the negative effects of the post-WW2 suburban sprawl, city planners developed a new urban design movement: New Urbanism. 🏡

In response to the car dependency, social isolation, and environmental degradation surrounding the suburban movement, planners considered embracing human-scaled urban design. The core ideal of human-scaled design is creating neighborhoods where housing, schools, jobs, and shops are within walking distance.

Crawford County will hold a public meeting to discuss and receive comments on a proposed Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO) Amendment. This meeting will be free of charge and held on June 8, 2026, at 5:30 PM at the West Mead Township Municipal Building, 1150 Morgan Village Road, Meadville, PA, 16335.

The proposed amendment clarifies existing language and adds provisions to address the unique land development issues associated with Data Centers. A copy of the proposed language can be found at the Crawford County Planning Office or the offices of the Meadville Tribune. A digital copy of the proposed ordinance is available on the Crawford County Planning website at crawfordcountypa.net/government/planning.

Crawford County proposes to enact the SALDO amendment at the regular meeting of the Crawford County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 9:30 AM at the Crawford County Courthouse, 903 Diamond Park, Meadville, PA, 16335.

This 120-year-old act laid the foundation for historic preservation in the United States by giving the president power to designate national monuments and establishing the preservation of archeological and historical sites on public lands. Our latest project highlight for is the Stone Memorial Library repairs funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. 📖

This Conneautville library was founded in 1904 by Julia L. Stone in memory of her husband, James A. Stone. For over 120 years, this library has served as a resource for Conneautville and its surrounding municipalities, providing books, tech access, educational programs, and more.

To ensure the Stone Memorial Library can continue serving the community, CDBG funds were used to repair and repoint the building's exterior brick walls. Now the library can continue to serve its local communities for many more years from a building that ties to local Crawford history.

👏 CCP is dedicated to supporting public services like our local libraries and preserving buildings that build a sense of place for our residents.

When we kicked off our vision for Crawford County, we knew we needed to launch a program that jump-started on-the-ground activities and invested in the County's people, places, and prosperity.

Enter the Mini-Grant Program. 🔦 Over the course of two years, CCP funded 17 community development projects, whose impact spanned across all 47 municipalities. To celebrate the success of this program, we developed a storymap highlighting these projects.
