Our dispatch area is a busy space where crews chart, attend briefings, and spend time between calls. These chairs will get plenty of use and are greatly appreciated!

Yesterday at 10:58 a.m., “C” Shift was dispatched to Tops Market for a reported vehicle fire.

Ladder 16-9, Medic 16-17, and Chief 16 responded to the incident.

Upon arrival, crews located a small fire beneath the vehicle & in the cab. Firefighters quickly deployed the front bumper line and extinguished the fire.

While the vehicle was being loaded onto a tow truck, crews discovered a broken fuel line that was actively leaking gasoline. Firefighters immediately initiated hazardous materials operations to contain the fuel and prevent runoff. Thanks to their quick actions, the gasoline was prevented from entering nearby storm drains or waterways.

The Meadville Street Department also assisted by providing a dump truck load of sand to help absorb the spilled fuel.

No injuries were reported.

Today at approximately 12:54 p.m., “B” Shift was dispatched to a vehicle fire at the intersection of North Street and Park Ave.

Ladder 16-9 and Medic 16-7 responded, Upon arrival, crews found a small fire in the rims due to the brakes.

Firefighters quickly deployed two water cans and a bumper line and brought the fire under control, preventing the fire from spreading any further.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

FF/Medic Niki Crippen recently traveled to South Carolina for her 15th consecutive year serving as a counselor at Camp ‘Can’ Do, a program of the South Carolina Firefighters Burned Children's Fund.

For more than 25 years, Camp ‘Can’ Do has provided an overnight summer camp experience for burn survivors ages 6–17.The camp gives children the opportunity to build lasting friendships, develop confidence and life skills, and embrace a true “can-do” attitude. Each summer, burn nurses, medical professionals, firefighters, and former campers generously volunteer their time to make this life-changing week possible.

We are incredibly proud of Niki’s continued dedication and selfless commitment to serving others. Her willingness to give back, both in our community and beyond, is a true reflection of the compassion and professionalism she brings to the fire service. Thank you, Niki, for making a lasting impact on the lives of these young burn survivors!
