NEWS: New Navy HAZMAT Tracking System Modernizes Operations, Bolsters Fleet Readiness Aboard 50 Ships

⚡ Information technology specialists from NAVSUP Business Systems Center have installed Hazardous Inventory Control System (HICS) 4 aboard 50 ships since January 2025, bolstering the fleet's operational readiness and ensuring Sailors are equipped with the U.S. Navy's premier hazardous material tracking capability.

⚓ "The HICS 4 update is a critical piece of the engine driving our warfighting advantage at sea," said Capt. Don McIntyre, commanding officer, NAVSUP BSC. Flash from the Commander, NAVSUP, and Chief of Supply Corps

27 JUL 2026

Please join me in congratulating the Worldwide Expeditionary Multiple Award Contract (WEXMAC) Program Team on their selection for the "Creativity in Contracting Award" for CY2025’s Department of War Contracting Award season!

This prestigious award recognizes teams who leverage creativity and collaboration to deliver maximum output to the warfighter. To earn the award, the WEXMAC Program Team proved unparalleled creativity in transforming a contracting vehicle into the Department of War’s premier tool for agile, inter-agency national security missions.

Under the team's stewardship, the WEXMAC has become a dominant strategic enabler across the federal government. This past year, the team managed over 170 active contracts, resulting in an unprecedented $1.7 billion in obligations across 100 countries with zero operational degradation. Their innovative acquisition design and pioneering application of Federal Category Management created a contracting ecosystem that delivers capabilities at a velocity previously thought unattainable.

This effort has been a true partnership, and I tip my hat to the Office of General Counsel and the SUP02 Contracting Directorate for their joint support, which has been fundamental to this success. We also recognize the NAVSUP Business Systems Center for its crucial role in developing the tools that support this complex and vital program.

The team’s achievements have directly enabled the success of critical homeland defense and expeditionary operations, most notably during Operation Epic Fury, where they orchestrated the rapid evacuation of over 4,000 personnel from volatile regions. They have redefined what is possible in federal contracting, building a vehicle that delivers capability for our nation's most critical missions at a scale and speed that is truly legendary.

Congratulations to the Team and Happy 6th Birthday to WEXMAC!
