Well deserved, Ms. Connie!

The Newville Halloween Parade Committee is proud to announce this year’s Parade Marshal, Connie Weaver.

Connie (a.k.a Miss Connie) is a Newville farm girl whose parents were farmers & bus drivers (Bob & Ethel Lehman). Connie graduated from Big Spring High School; from Shippensburg State College (with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Science) and from Shippensburg University with a Master's Degree in Library Science.

Miss Connie has worked in the Cumberland County Library System for 40 years at both the Bosler Library and John Graham Library. She was a Reference Librarian, a volunteer coordinator, an Assistant Director and her pride was being a Storytime Librarian.

The Storytimes that were at John Graham Library were a joy to Miss Connie as she loved to bring Special Visitors to her Storytime munchkins. Special visitors have included: calves, bunnies, turkeys, ducks, a peacock, school buses, a dump truck, a skid loader, miniature horses, miniature donkeys, an iguana, a helicopter, a drone, a camel, baby kangaroos and a great variety of other animals/equipment.

During Covid, Miss Connie and Mr. Barry created videos that were posted so that the Storytime crowd would have some joy.

Miss Connie loves to read (of course), crochet, bake and hike. With 1 dog (Tango) and 2 bunnies (Oreo and Caramel) - Miss Connie has included them in her Storytime events too. 2 children (Chris & Lily) plus Mr. Barry have also helped with Storytime Special visitors.

Encouraging munchkins to read is an important part of Miss Connie's gift to the Children of the Newville area as she loves to read, do crafts and bring special memories to the munchkins who entered the Library. For Miss Connie - reading, crafts, special visitors and the relationships that have developed are extremely important not only for the children but also the adults who were able to attend Storytime.

Thank you to all who have ever attended Storytime and thank you for sharing your munchkins with Miss Connie. And thank you to Miss Connie for giving so much to the Newville area!

There is no doubt this is a deserving accolade to have her as the 2026 Grand Marshall.
