PBS Books is in Pennsylvania! In partnership with the Library of Congress Centers for the Book, "American Stories: A Reading Road Trip" shines a spotlight on individual U.S. states and select territories to uncover their one-of-a-kind literary treasures. Visit libraries and bookstores and learn about the authors, journalists, and publishers who contributed to Pennsylvania's rich history of literacy. The episode premieres tonight at 8:00pm.

The butterflies emerged over the weekend! Join us on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., before STEAM Club, to witness their release. Miss Danette will read "Waiting for Wings" and "Traveling Butterflies" before setting the butterflies free. We hope you can join us for this special moment! Location: Outdoor benches on the side of the building. Raindate: Friday at 5:00.

We'll be closed on Sunday, May 24 and Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day. No items checked out at Simpson Library will be due and no holds will expire. Just a heads up: starting this weekend, we'll be closed every Sunday until Labor Day.

Today's Simpson Celebrity is the Upper Allen Kiwanis Club! 🎉 The Kiwanis Club sponsors LEGO programs at Simpson Library contributes to many other organizations in our community as well. Right now they are raising money together with the Mechanicsburg Museum Association with a blueberry sale! Call the Museum or visit their website to order a box of blueberries by June 19 for a taste of summer while supporting local institutions and organizations!

Just two more Wednesdays to visit Revolutionary Hot Sauce and let your purchase support the Friends of the Simpson Library! Just bring in a dine-out flyer, eat something delicious or buy some hot sauce to enjoy at home and Revolutionary Hot Sauce will donate part of the purchase price back to the Friends!

The caterpillars are in their pupa (chrysalis) stage. We are expecting them to emerge in about a week. Stop by the lower level of the library to see their transformation.

Get in touch with the STAR Coordinator if you know someone who is homebound! The STAR Program is a free service where volunteers deliver library materials to the homebound.

STAR (Service to Adult Readers)

Are you aware of a homebound Cumberland County adult resident who would benefit from a once-a-month library visit? Library materials are selected and delivered by the same library volunteer each month according to reading interests. A fee is not charged to participate. Over time, many meaningful friendships have developed between our participants and their designated library volunteers.
