On June 6, Richmond National Battlefield Park will two special programs on Saturday June 6 at Cold Harbor battlefield to commemorate the 1864 battle. At 11 am and 1 pm there will be an artillery demonstration and discussion of artillery in the battle. At 2 pm there will be a ranger guided tour, titled "Surviving Cold Harbor" focused on the experience of soldiers. The walking tour will be 1.5 miles and cover uneven ground, and last two hours.

All programs will start at the visitor center: 5515 Anderson-Wright Drive, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. The Cold Harbor visitor center will be open from 9 am to 4:30 pm with films, exhibits, and bookstore.

Did you know that Virginia was the birthplace of religious freedom in America? 🕊️

Hanover County was home to dissenters who advocated for separation from the Anglican Church of England. Hanover Meeting House, now known as Historic Polegreen Church Foundation , helped establish the right for people to worship freely in Virginia, long before the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom.

Walk the religious freedom walk at Historic Polegreen Church and explore where history unfolded.

Happy Birthday to Patrick Henry! On this day in 1736, Patrick Henry was born at Studley. Visitors can make the pilgrimage out to Studley to see where his birth-home once stood. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places!

We love visitors and enjoy welcoming them to the Site. In return, we ask that visitors are respectful to the Site. We installed new signage to remind people to stay off the earthworks. We also ask that people clean up their trash before they leave. While it’s fun to throw confetti, it’s not fun for us to clean up- so please only use natural materials if you choose to celebrate with confetti. Thanks for helping us maintain the Site for many more years and for many future visitors!
