Diamond and Jamie were the first couple to use Prospect Hill prior to their nuptials at the Church Site. Prospect Hill offers a quiet and beautiful place to get ready before the wedding- Diamond and Jamie’s photos speak for themselves though!

Activities: Coffee & Pastries, Church tours, listen to Patrick Henry and Reverend Patrick Henry

Stop 2: Historic Polegreen Church

Location: 6411 Heatherwood Drive, Mechanicsville, VA 23116

Time Window: 10:00 AM - 12: 00 PM

Activities: Get a picture with the Hanover County VA 250 Love Sign, make a handmade button, and listen to Samuel Davies

Stop 3: Brown Grove Baptist Church

Location: 9328 Ashcake Road, Ashland, VA 23005

Time Window: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Activities: Live brush harbor reenactments with John Jasper, church tours, an old time choir, and a selection of food trucks

Stop 4: Old Chapel at Randolph-Macon College

Location: 201 Henry Street, Ashland, VA 23005

Time Window: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Activities: Water and refreshments, listen to George Mason

Stop 5: Patrick Henry's Scotchtown

Time Window: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Activities: Tour Scotchtown for free, play 18th century yard games, and listen to Dolley Madison

Stop 6: The Fork Church

Time Window: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Activities: antique car show, see Sparky the mini-horse, church tours, cemetery tours, and a reception, listen to Thomas Jefferson

Then two days later, join us for the Voices of Freedom Tour on Saturday,
August 15th for a self-guided journey through 6 historic sites that trace how Virginia went from a colony where the Anglican Church was the only legal religion, where missing Sunday service could mean a fine, or worse, to the birthplace of true religious liberty.

For over 150 years, the established church wasn't just a place of worship. It was local government: it set taxes, kept records, and cared for the poor. Attendance wasn't optional. This tour walks you through the dissenters, preachers, and everyday Virginians who challenged that system!
