In accordance with Chapter 41 Section 81D of the General Laws of Massachusetts, the Medfield Planning Board hereby APPROVES the TOWN OF MEDFIELD MASTER PLAN 2020: BUILDING OUR FUTURE. The document is the result of a 17-month process that included an eighteen-member committee (guided by a master planning consultant), stakeholder participation, assessment of existing resources, visioning and goal setting and identification of strategies to help achieve the Town’s common aspirations. The Plan was prepared with care and attention to building on Medfield’s existing assets and is mindful of the Town’s implementation capacity.

The Medfield Planning Board is pleased to approve the Medfield Master Plan and sincerely thanks the Townwide Master Planning Committee members as well as the hundreds of residents, town board/committee/commission members, and staff that participated in the nearly two-year process. The Board is in the planning stages of developing a "master plan summit" meeting where pertinent town entities can periodically assess the Plan's progress with implementation, and make adjustments, as necessary.

The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), the regional planning agency which serves 101 cities and towns in the Boston metropolitan area, has been hard at work on a new, long-range regional plan for greater Boston, known as MetroCommon2050. Of course this is a much different scale than we are doing here in Medfield, but I thought it might be of interest to you.

Purpose:
• An Implementation Plan has been developed which outlines the steps necessary to take us from where we are in terms of existing resources (as described in the Inventory) to where we want to go as described in the Vision and set of Goals developed with stakeholder input.

• The Implementation Plan will be comprised of action steps, key responsible parties, possible partners, needed policy changes, and potential funding for implementation.

• The Implementation Plan is organized around the Goals and Objectives which will also be included in the 11/5 issue of the Hometown Weekly
