2025 was a banner year! We celebrated the library’s 150th anniversary at 111 High Street, and recognized library director Barbara Kerr for her outstanding leadership and dedication to the Charlotte and William Bloomberg Medford Public Library. Thank you for supporting this work. We look forward to another year of creativity, growth, and learning at the library.

Next up in our 2025 recap: the Betsy Schreuer Fund! The collections grew in 2025, and circulation reached an all-time high! Through the Betsy Schreuer Fund, we enhanced the diversity of our collections, acquiring more than 500 new books for children and teens in Arabic, Chinese, Haitian Creole, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. These additions reflect the languages and cultures of our city and make our library an even more welcoming place to learn. Bookplate designed by Gabriel Mata.

In 2025 we contributed over $50,000 toward Public Programming, Special Collections, Youth Services, and Adult Learning at the library. This support meant makers of all ages learned 3D modeling, English language learners studied together, families met each other at story time, children learned fine motor skills, music filled Bonsignore Hall, and so much more. It’s hard to believe that it has been nearly four years since our new library opened its doors. Looking back, we are grateful for the incredible generosity of our community. Our library truly is for ALL – inspiring learning, igniting creativity, and building communities.

For decades, the Medford Public Library has served as a steward of special local history materials, some of which are over 200 years old! Now, thanks to a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies, thousands of materials will be accessible and searchable online.

The Medford Public Library plans to build a digital database of its content following approval by the Medford City Council in late October. A soft launch of the database will be published early in 2026.
