After nearly 30 years of service to the City of Medford, Chief Justin Ivens is retiring from the Medford Police Department.

A Medford native, Chief Ivens began his career with MPD in 1995 as a Community Service Officer and went on to serve in nearly every corner of the department before becoming Chief of Police in 2021.

Throughout his career, Chief Ivens earned the respect of his colleagues and the community through his professionalism, integrity, and collaborative leadership. Under his leadership, the department expanded staffing, launched new programs and technologies, strengthened regional partnerships, and continued to evolve to meet the needs of our community.

โ€œJustin has always led with integrity, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to the people he serves,โ€ said Interim City Manager John Vial. โ€œHis impact on this organization and our community will be felt for years to come.โ€

Thank you, Chief Ivens, for your decades of service, leadership, and dedication to the Medford community. Your contributions have helped shape the department and will continue to benefit our community for years to come.

Congratulations on a well-earned retirement. We wish you and your family all the best in this next chapter. ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ‘

We all want to enjoy the warmer weather with our pets, but they canโ€™t always come along for the ride if theyโ€™ll be left in the car, even for just a short time. โ˜€๏ธ

If you see a pet left in a hot car:

โœ”๏ธ Ask nearby businesses to help locate the owner
โœ”๏ธ Keep an eye on the pet. If they're showing signs of distress and the owner isnโ€™t found, call Medford Police at 541-770-4783 or 911 if it appears urgent
โœ”๏ธ Breaking a window should only be a last resort. When possible, let law enforcement handle it

Love your pets like they love youโ€”unconditionally, and preferably in air conditioning. ๐Ÿถ
