On September 11, 2026, we gather as a community to honor the 25th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks and remember the innocent lives lost, the brave first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and the heroes who answered the call.

This afternoon at approximately 1408 hours, the Medford Fire Department was activated for a reported vehicle fire with occupants trapped.

First-arriving Medford units were met with two fully involved cement trucks and a fully involved truck towing a car trailer. Fortunately, the drivers of both vehicles were able to self-extricate prior to our arrival. Both were evaluated on scene and transported by the Medford Ambulance.

We would like to thank the Holtsville Fire Department and Farmingville Fire Department, who were initially responding to assist us but were rerouted to handle a reported overturned motor vehicle accident. After clearing that incident, they continued to our scene to provide additional assistance.

A thank you also goes to the Patchogue Fire Department for standing by to handle any additional alarms while our members operated at the scene.

Crews worked efficiently to bring the fire under control and were back in service in just under two hours.

The Suffolk County Police Department is handling the accident investigation.

Great teamwork by all agencies involved.

At approximately 1455 hours, the Medford Fire Department was activated for a reported motor vehicle accident with overturn at the intersection of Route 112 and Woodside Avenue.

Upon arrival, responding members found a pickup truck overturned onto its side with its fuel tank ruptured, resulting in a significant gasoline leak. Working alongside the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal’s Office, crews safely removed the damaged fuel tank and transferred the remaining gasoline to eliminate the hazard.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all personnel on scene, the incident was brought under control safely and efficiently. Crews cleared the scene and returned to service approximately one hour later.

We thank the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal’s Office for their assistance and remind everyone to use extra caution while traveling through our community.

🚒 Mutual Aid Standby in Central Islip 🚒

The Medford Fire Department is currently standing by at the Central Islip Fire Department alongside the Deer Park Fire Department as they continue to battle a large commercial fire in their district.
