πŸ“š Help a Child Discover the Joy of Reading πŸ’™

Our RSVP partner, SMART Reading, is seeking caring volunteers to support young readers across Jackson County during the upcoming school year. SMART Reading’s mission is to foster a love of reading in underserved children by pairing them with supportive adults and providing free books to build their home libraries.

✨ Volunteer Opportunity:
Spend one-on-one time reading with students in preschool through 3rd grade, helping them build confidence and a lifelong love of learning.

πŸ“ Where:
Programs take place in 25 schools across Jackson County, including Medford, Central Point, Ashland, Eagle Point, Gold Hill, and more.

πŸ•’ Commitment:
β€’ Approximately 1 hour per week
β€’ Mid-October through mid-May (school year)
β€’ Consistent weekly schedule

πŸ’‘ No special skills required!
Just bring your enthusiasm, patience, and love of reading. Training and support are provided, including orientation and helpful workshops.

πŸ’› Why Volunteer?
A single hour each week can have a lasting impactβ€”helping a child grow their skills, confidence, and excitement about books.

πŸ‘‰ Interested or know someone who would be a great fit?
Contact the RSVP Program of Jackson County at 541-857-7780 or email [email protected] to get started!

Celebrating America's 250th Anniversary Through Service 🀝
On July 4, 2026, America proudly celebrated its 250th anniversaryβ€”known as the Semiquincentennialβ€”marking 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence! πŸ“œβœ¨

This historic milestone honored our nation's enduring ideals of freedom, opportunity, and civic responsibility while celebrating the people and communities that continue to shape America's future. πŸ—½

❀️ The Spirit of Service
One of the values that has defined our country since its founding is a commitment to serving others. Volunteerism remains a powerful expression of the American spiritβ€”bringing neighbors together to strengthen communities, support those in need, and create lasting connections across generations. 🏑πŸ‘₯✨

🌟 Honoring AmeriCorps Seniors
AmeriCorps Seniors programs exemplify this tradition of service. Across the nation, dedicated volunteers contribute their time, experience, and compassion by:

πŸ“š Mentoring youth
πŸ‘΅πŸ‘΄ Supporting older adults
🀝 Assisting nonprofit organizations
πŸ†˜ Responding to community needs

Their service demonstrates that every single individual has the power to make a meaningful difference! πŸ’ͺ✨

πŸ›οΈ Building a Brighter Future Together
As we celebrate 250 years of American history, we also celebrate the countless AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers whose commitment enriches lives every day. Their generosity reflects the enduring American values of service, compassion, and community.

We are so proud to recognize their meaningful contributions and the lasting impact of AmeriCorps Seniors programs, which continue to strengthen our communities and inspire others to serve! πŸ™ŒπŸŽ‰

The Semiquincentennial reminds us that America's story is not only written by historic events, but also by ordinary citizens who choose to help their neighbors. Through volunteer service, we honor our nation's past while building a stronger, more connected future for generations to come. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒΎβœ¨
