Over 350 American flags were proudly erected by members of the Medford Sunrise Rotary and community volunteers as part of the annual Field of Honor at Freedom Park.

In recognition of those who have served and continue to serve our community and country, the Medford Township Police Foundation sponsored six flags to be displayed. Each flag included a commemorative medallion sharing a story, tribute, or message honoring a hometown hero.

The Foundation specifically recognized Sgt Edwin McKemey, P/O Daniel Matthews, P/O Carlos Perez, P/O Elvin Marmolejos-Valdez, and SLEO Dave Sweely for their dedicated service. We were also honored to learn that the Rotary sponsored a flag in recognition of K9 Murph.

The Field of Honor serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices, commitment, and service of so many individuals who make a difference in our community every day. We thank the Medford Sunrise Rotary and all the volunteers who help make this meaningful tribute possible each year.

Thank you to all who serve and have served.

This weekend, MYAA Flag Football showed their support for Xavier Taylor, a young athlete from Maple Shade.

Sgt. Walsh proudly helped spread awareness and show support for Xavier and his family. Moments like these remind us that communities are strongest when they come together for one another.

The Medford Township Police Department and the Medford community are keeping Xavier and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

On Friday, June 5, our officers proudly participated in the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey, running over 18 miles from Evesham Township, through Medford Township and Medford Lakes, to Lumberton Township. They were joined by members of the Evesham Township, Lumberton Township and Medford Lakes Police Departments, along with many family members, run participants and friends who came out to support this incredible cause.

This year's run held special significance for Leg 19 (Burlington County). Our longtime county coordinator for the Torch Run, Allan Tittermary, sadly passed away on March 11 of this year. Al was a passionate advocate for both the Torch Run and Special Olympics New Jersey. He served on the State Committee for the New Jersey Law Enforcement Torch Run and was a member of FOP Lodge 56 after retiring as a Lieutenant with the PATCO Police Department. His dedication, leadership, and commitment to the athletes and mission of Special Olympics will never be forgotten.

We are honored to have participated in this year's run in Al's memory while continuing to carry the "Flame of Hope" for the incredible athletes of Special Olympics New Jersey.

A special thank you to Officer Scheer for coordinating the run and ensuring its success, as well as to our sponsors, the Medford Township Police Foundation and Patty B's Hats and Tees, for their generous support. We also thank all of the officers, family members, friends, and community supporters who helped make this year's Torch Run a success.
