Soldiers of the 273rd continue to train on their domestic operations mission. DYK that the 273rd serves the state not only in Combat Engineer operations but also chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear enhanced response force package (CERFP). 273RD members augment the CERFP by becoming experts in search and extraction.

On July 15 1779 LTC De Fleury was the first to breach the British fortification on Stony Point, NY. Once breached De Fleury cut down the British Flag and yelled "the forts is ours". For De Fleury's courageous actions under fire the continental congress decided to strike a medal in his honor. Every year the Engineer Regiment recognizes Soldiers who have consistently demonstated significant contributions to the Engineer Regiment and community.

On Aug 15th SGT(P) Clark was awarded his Steel order of the De Fleury by CSM Fulton.

CSM FULTON (Bronze De Fleury recipient) stated.......

"Less than 1% of the Engineers who ever served will be awarded this medal.....

There is no set criteria to recieve this medal, this isn't a do this = this medal.

We as Engineers solve problems......

IED'S = Problem
Infrastructure = Problem
Mines = Problem
Mobility = Problem
Counter-mobility = Problem"

Here are the Soldiers of the 273rd EN Co breaching doors with shotguns and creating an abatis using trees during November drill. Shotguns and C4 make for an exciting drill weekend.
