Medford Fire & EMS is a combination Department that provides Fire & EMS services to Medford Township. We handle approximately 1300 Fire calls annually. We are seeking qualified applicants for day shifts. We are a municipally based Fire & EMS system so employees will be part of the NJ State PFRS pension system.

Medford Township Department of Fire & EMS Announces the Retirement of Cliff Rickards After 27 Years of Dedicated Service
MEDFORD, NJ — After 27 years of commitment to the safety and well-being of our community, Medford Township Department of Fire & EMS announces the retirement of Firefighter/EMT/Deputy Fire Marshal/Deputy OEM Cliff Rickards, effective September 1st, 2026.
For nearly three decades, Cliff has been an important part of Medford Township. Throughout his extensive career, he has responded to countless emergencies, protecting the lives and property of Medford residents. Beyond his immediate duties as a Firefighter, Cliff has also been an integral part of the Emergency Management Office, as the shelter coordinator and his vital work with the local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. He was also served with the New Jersey EMS Task Force as logistics.
Cliff’s 27 years of service represent a profound level of dedication that is hard to measure. He has been a presence in our department. We will deeply miss his experience and banter at the station.
During his career, Cliff has been recognized for his actions in the line of duty, including being honored by Medford Township Council, International Association of Fire Fighters, and the Burn Foundation for his response efforts during critical incidents. His long-standing dedication reflects the highest standards of the fire and EMS service.
Medford Township Department of Fire & EMS extends its deepest gratitude to Cliff for his 27 years of sacrifice, long shifts, and selfless service. We also thank his family for sharing him with our department and the community for all these years.
Please join us in congratulating Cliff Rickards on a well-deserved retirement. We wish him the absolute best in his next chapter!
A celebratory walk-out ceremony will be held on Friday, August 28th, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Station 251, 1 Firehouse Lane, Medford, NJ. All are welcome to attend and send their well-wishes.
