Recently, Rogue Retreat had the opportunity to host a tour for Oregon gubernatorial candidate Christine Drazan, along with Representative Shelly Boshart Davis and Representative Kim Wallan.
The visit provided an opportunity to share our approach to addressing homelessness in Southern Oregon. At Rogue Retreat, we believe that shelter and housing are foundational for human dignity and for making lasting, stable changes. When people have a safe place to sleep, store their belongings, and meet their basic needs, they are better able to focus on the challenges that led to homelessness in the first place.
Our programs are designed to create opportunity. Once guests enter our programs, we work alongside them to identify barriers, set goals, and develop a plan for moving forward. Participants are expected to take an active role in their own growth, recovery, and self-sufficiency. Progress requires commitment, accountability, and effort.
Through our training and employemnt programs like Hope Streets and Hope Kitchen, guests gain job skills, work experience, and confidence as they prepare to reenter the workforce. Last year, nearly half of all participants successfully completed our programs, representing more than 600 individuals who found safety, stability, and a pathway toward a brighter future.
We appreciate the opportunity to share our work with leadership and discuss solutions that strengthen individuals, families, and communities throughout Southern Oregon.
Because everyone deserves a place to call home. ๐
