TONIGHT (Monday) public Q&A and Information Session on the Boston Ave zoning proposal - Monday, June 1 at 6pm at Tufts University, Breed Hall. 51 Winthrop St.

This session is designed to educate residents on the proposal so they can provide informed comments during the public hearing process (see below for details)
Come with questions and hear from zoning consultants, City staff, and City Councilors!

This meeting will also be streamed on Medford Community Media and Zoom – full meeting details will be available at medfordma.org/events. For more info on zoning, visit medfordma.org/zoning.

A parking permit is required to park at Tufts. Meeting attendees can park in the Dowling Garage, Lower Campus Garage or Cousens Lot. Visit go.tufts.edu/permit or scan the QR code and enter the voucher code TUFTS to register your vehicle.

Alternatively, there will be a Public Hearing on Wednesday night, where you can address your opinions to the city counselors and community development board members. Please see the city’s event calendar for details on attending.

Rechargeable batteries can be sneaky, and just throwing them away can be dangerous! Fortunately, Medford DPW can collect many types of rechargeable batteries when they reach the end of their lives. Call ahead to double check or make a drop off at City Hall, Room 304.

🥈Next up? Reducing, reusing, and repairing—AKA, creating less trash and keeping materials in use.
🥉Recycling and composting are important, helping to keep would-be waste out of the trash! But employ them after the above strategies for the biggest impact.

How many landfills can fit in one state?
In the 1980s, Massachusetts had over 300 active landfills for municipal waste. Today, that number is down to 7.

Here's the dirty truth about trash, we are running out of places to put it all. That's why Medford has one of the only free curbside composting programs in the state and are promoting the many reuse and repair events across the city. We want to help our residents keep their stuff out of landfills by repairing and donating their favorite items, composting food waste to become healthy soil, and recycling valuable materials to be used again.
