TGIF!

This week our marriage office completed 43 new marriage licenses for soon to be married couples! They also completed 62 certified copies, which are used to prove things like a name change.

The probate team completed 49 probates this week. They are always working extra hard to make a difficult time as smooth and easy as possible.

We also added 8 new couples to our marriage wall. Be sure to come check out the wall the next time your stop in our office, or even snap a pic in front of our decorated wall!

Don't be like this viral woman...

You are allowed to change your last name days, months, years, decades after your wedding (or never)! This newlywed found out the hard way that a name change is pretty substantial, especially when dealing with travel and legal documents. Be cautious and make sure all of your t's are crossed and i's are dotted!

It's still August, so it's still our month to hit you with some will facts!

Prince's sister filed probate documents stating that there was no known will or testament. Prince's estate eventually was treated as intestate, which means there is no will.

Prince's estate was extremely complicated because it consisted of much more than just bank accounts and cash. His estate was made up of things like copyrights, unreleased music, real estate, recording rights, and many other business interests. The estate was ultimately valued at about $160 Million.

The estate was settled 6 years later and each of his remaining 6 siblings received an even split of the estate.

This is why it is extremely important to have a will or estate plan. You will save your family years of fights, stress, and confusion! and you get to decide who gets what...

Happy Marriage Monday!💍

Today we are featuring Hannah and Kevin! Hannah and Kevin both live in Downingtown, PA and met through friends. They love attending concerts together. Their first date took place at a Lil Tracy concert and Kevin proposed at a Tim McGraw concert! Even better, the happy couple officially got married at a Guns N' Roses concert in Hershey, PA. When they're not enjoying live music, Hannah and Kevin love to go fishing and traveling. Hannah and Kevin were a joy to have in our office and Angie was especially excited when she heard that Kevin was changing his last name to hers!

Congratulations to these love birds! We wish you a life of endless concerts and love!

Happy Friday!

This week we were lucky enough to confirm our attendance for expos held by Rep Delloso, Senator Kearney, Rep Boyd, and Rep Curry. These events are an awesome opportunity for members of our office to share their knowledge and answer any questions that the people of Delco may have. We are thankful to receive invitations to these expos and find them to be very beneficial for both our office and the people we serve. We look forward to these upcoming events!

Our wonderful marriage clerks completed 44 certified marriage license copies this week. A certified copy of a marriage licenses enables people to prove that they changed their last name, which allows them to get their Real ID. The number of completed certified copies done in our office has completely skyrocketed since the Real ID became more prevalent. It keeps us busy!

It's still August, which means it's still National Make a Will month!

Did you know that Ed Headrick, the creator of the modern frisbee and disc golf, had his ashes incorporated into the creation of a limited number of frisbees. Some were given to his family and friends, while others were sold to raise money for a museum in his name.

The beauty of a will is that you can essentially make any request you want, even having your ashes used to make plastic flying discs.

Happy Marriage Monday!

Today’s couple is Aliyah and Lonnie. The couple is Delco born and raised and currently lives in Drexel Hill. They met at Wawa in Norristown in 2024 and the rest is history! They plan to have a small gathering to celebrate their love. They are avid music lovers and look forward to dancing on their big day. They enjoy playing chess and traveling together. 🌴 Their favorite song is “Walk Through the Fire” by Yung Bleu ft. Neyo, which will also be their wedding song. We loved getting the chance to talk to Lonnie and Aliyah and wish them the best of luck on their new adventure.❤️🥰

Happy Friday!

Today was Alex's last day in the office with us. Alex came to us at the beginning of the summer as an intern. He is about to enter his second year of law school at Villanova in a few short weeks. We were so lucky to have Alex join us this summer and hope he loved it as much as we did. Good luck Stretch!😊

Our marriage department is killing it lately while being down a few staff members. Mandi and Angie have been running the show, together completing 33 marriage license appointments in 4 days this week. They are rockstars and we are so fortunate to have them on our team.❤

It's national make a will month! Stay tuned for some fun facts about wills for the month of August 💡

Fredric John Baur was a food-storage technician at Proctor & Gamble. It was here that he created the unique cylindrical shape of the Pringles can that helped make Pringles famous. His intent behind the design was to ensure that the chips would not break. When Baur passed in 2008 his final wish was to have some of his ashes placed in a pringles can and buried. Seeing that this was stated in his will, Baur's family buried the can in a cemetery in Ohio🌳

When you make your will, you can include any unique request that you may have, including being buried with a can of chips.🍟
