On Thursday, June 1, 2017, Sheridan Electric employees trained for a “man down” scenario, otherwise known as “May Day.” This training is important so office and in-field staff are coordinated in an emergency. The training accident was a lineman pinned under a reel of wire. Medicine Lake Quick Response was dispatched to the scene. They helped stabilize the victim and get him transported to a helicopter landing zone. After the drill was complete, everyone involved met to discuss what went well and what could be improved upon. A huge “Thank you” to Kim and Aaron Rudningen for taking time out of their day to train with us!
*Friday Night Lights" returns to Scobey: In late 2015, Sheridan Electric received a call from Ryan Linder inquiring about installing lights at the Scobey football field. Josh Johnson, electrical foreman, came up with a solution to fit the school's needs. We had some power poles on-hand that had been replaced in a transmission project, and donated 4 of those poles to the Scobey football field. Electricians Travis Benton and Tristan Ereth trenched in the underground power lines. Tom Hinds and Josh Johnson used a man lift to install the lights at the top of each 100 foot pole. Various Scobey community members, along with the football team helped to defray the cost of the project by donating their time to assemble the lights and back fill the holes where the poles were installed. The project was completed in time for the Spartans 2016 opening home game on Friday, September 2.
Last Thursday, our transformer at the Dagmar substation went down. Today, our linemen replaced the old 3500 KVA transformer with a 5000 KVA transformer. With the help of Zane Spoklie at Border Crane Service, the new transformer, weighing over 20 tons, was transported from our office in Medicine Lake to the Dagmar substation located just south of the Volmer church, east of Medicine Lake.
