Leah Bengough is MCCC’s October Student of the Month!

Buckeye High School senior Leah Bengough has been named the Medina County Kiwanis October Student of the Month by a panel of teachers from the Medina County Career Center.

Leah is enrolled in the Allied Health and Pre-Nursing program at the Medina County Career Center, where she served as Allied Health Class President. She has earned her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, qualified for the HOSA State Leadership Conference in the Surgical Technologist event, and is a member of both the National Honor Society and American Sign Language Honor Society.

Academically, Leah has challenged herself with a rigorous course load. Her College Credit Plus coursework includes Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Physiology, Composition I and II, and Speech.

Outside the classroom, Leah serves as President of the Buckeye Bunch 4-H Club, Secretary of the Medina County Junior Fair Board, a 4-H Camp Counselor, and an MCCC Student Ambassador. She has also earned her Ohio FFA State Degree and participated in a 4-H cultural immersion experience in Puerto Rico.

Leah is a dedicated student-athlete, earning varsity letters in gymnastics, indoor track, and outdoor track. She has received Second Team All-Conference honors, qualified for regional competition in pole vault, and contributed to a school-record hurdle relay team. She also balances her activities with employment at Champion Creek Health and Rehabilitation and the Medina Recreation Center.

Leah’s teachers describe her as hardworking, determined, and personable, with strong leadership skills. Her peers describe her as smart, helpful, and a great leader who always works ahead and makes sure everyone feels included.

Leah is the daughter of Ron and Julie Bengough. After graduation, she plans to major in biochemistry, with the ultimate goal of attending medical school and becoming an anesthesiologist.
