February was a fun month at the Home. Residents were treated to pizza and wings on Super Bowl Sunday thanks to donations by our loving community.
Access the Arts, Mary Lynn Church from the Valley City VFW auxiliary, and the Kiwanis provided all kinds of Valentine’s Day fun. The residents were given crafts, treats, and valentines.

Sundae has been up to her same old shenanigans. She has full reign of the Home and makes sure to distract anyone trying to get work done!

A belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Medina County Home. I am writing to you from my house. I haven't been at the Home since before Christmas. We have had our share of illness at the Home, and I too am now ill.
The Home was very blessed by many people and organizations over Christmas. The Medina County Park District and Mary Lynn Church with Valley City VFW Auxiliary provided the residents with Christmas gifts, the Friends of Medina County Home provided a lovely Christmas dinner from Pickle Mamas, and on Christmas Eve, The Rotary Club donated funds to purchase Subway sandwich meals. Access the Arts and the Clutter Family provided festive events to lift the residents' spirits. Many community members and organizations dropped off gifts, food, money, DVD's, DVD players, TV's, and so much more! WE THANK YOU ALL!

Tonight the residents will celebrate New Year's with a feast donated by Tim Van Arsdale from Cups Cafe. Cups is providing, pizza, chicken strips, meatballs, salad, and more from the local Guy's Pizza. We are so thankful to have something special at the end of this difficult year.

Even through the difficulties we have had and are currently experiencing, we are thankful for our community, and I am so very thankful for our staff. They have gone the extra mile over and over to assure the comfort and well being of our residents.

Robin Storrow from Aramark and her staff will be preparing the residents a traditional sauerkraut and pork meal to celebrate New Year's Day.

We have hope. May next year be a "soft pillow" for all of us!

Could the Clutter family be any kinder? We don’t think so! Over and over this family serves the residents of The Medina County Home. Last night was no exception.
They provided a light show, a stocking for every resident, spoke with the residents through their windows, and sang Christmas Carols. Angie/Kids Care gave every single resident a poinsettia for their room.
And the cherry on top was SANTA. I KNOW HIM! Thank you Santa!!!

Access The Arts

Access the Arts volunteers sang Christmas carols to the County Home and Coal Ridge residents. Since they are isolated in their rooms now, it was some much needed Christmas cheer.

We have had illness in the home this week, so we asked for TV/DVD combos and hand held DVD players. We also asked for DVD’s. As usual, our community stepped up to the plate and made that wish come true. Not only do the residents have a fabulous assortment of movies to watch, they also have new TV trays in their rooms thanks to some generous donors.
Our employees have been stellar this week and have gone to great lengths to take care of our residents. Sundae they cat is the video librarian and has requested the Rocky series and wrestling DVD’s.😂

It has been a rough week at the home. However, tough times don’t last!
We can’t thank Access the Arts enough for bringing Christmas cheer. Access the Arts continuously pours out their gifts and talent to the residents of The Medina County Home. They are just awesome!

12/14/2020

We are in need of small tv/dvd combos, personal DVD players, or small tv's that can be hooked up to a DVD player. We are also accepting DVD's.
Thank you!

Tonight the activity room and dining room were decked out for a festive Christmas meal donated by The Friends of Medina County Home (FOMCH). Pickle Mamas made the delicious meals. Each resident was able to choose between four entrees; salmon, brisket, meatloaf, or linguini with meatballs. We are so thankful for The FOMCH. They bless our socks off!
To finish the meal off, The Medina Sunrise Rotary donated cake and ice cream for dessert. A huge thank you for the delicious dessert.

It is with a very heavy heart that I am sharing extremely sad news with you today. On Thursday, August 6th our food service manager Pam made and served us three delicious meals. She left work that day never to return. Pam and her 84-year-old mother were killed by her husband. We are devastated. We are doing our best to comfort the residents and staff. Please keep us in your prayers.

On July 26th, from 1 - 3 pm, The Clutter family was finally able to return to spread cheer to the residents of the Medina County Home. This was only their second event for the year since February when they hosted the Super Bowl party in our activity room. Due to the lapse, Melinda Clutter of Medina Kids Care had to combine five events into one. The events included: Wrestlemania, Memorial Day, Kids Care Horse Show, 4th of July, and Christmas in July. It was a high-energy event packed full of food, games, prizes, and singing. The event included everything from Dave Lofy from the American Legion Post 202 Medina playing the bugle to Santa Claus riding in on a Harley. This event had it all. The Clutter family takes great pride in supporting our residents with their time and talent. They are truly a blessing and very appreciated by the staff and residents

Hello My dancers will be performing a Christmas dance show today at 2 and 7. There will be a live stream available. The link is below. Please share with your residents. Happy Holiday.
Thank you for hosting the Kiwanis Club of Medina's annual picnic meeting. Here is a copy of the post from our Kiwanis page. Members of the Kiwanis Club of Medina made their annual trip to the Medina County Home for a picnic. Bagged lunches rather than the usual picnic were provided. It was a gorgeous day to be there. Many of the 44 current residents were happy to be out and about after being stuck inside for a few months due to COVID-19. Greg Brown, the new superintendent of the home, introduced himself to us, and let us know what he has learned about the home and the generosity of Medina County residents in these past few months. He told us that the youngest resident is 46 years old and the oldest is 96 years old. Residents have to be mobile, The Medina County Home does not receive Medicaid or Medicare funds. Unfortunately, the home cannot provide senior day services at this time due to the virus. Everyone wanted to know if there would eventually be peacocks at the home gain. Good news. As soon at the pen is really, really secure from whatever animals killed the last pair, there will be more peacocks to enjoy.
We miss all of you. We told the governor we would wear our masks during our pet therapy visits but the governor said not yet. He must have know we wouldn't be able to keep 6 foot distance from all of you. We can't wait to visit on Sundays again Love Lucy and Em
