Today's shout out goes to Mr. Retterer at Claggett Middle School

Mr. R has been doing a great job since we have moved to online learning. His weekly google meet class is something that our daughter looks forward to. We can hear her participating and engaging and see her love of math continuing. He has sent out emails to parents about what has been going on and is also sending emails to the students when he notices that they might be lagging behind for the week with their assignments. In these new times it has eased our concerns that she is still getting a high level of education.

Love getting these messages! Keep sending them to [email protected]

Love getting these messages! Keep sending them to [email protected]

Since March 19, our first Monday home, Ella Canavan 2nd grade teacher Jolene Speckman has had her class in Flipgrid to see each other, learn about each other, and check in on them. It has meant so much to Bobby, and is something I watch every day with him!

From Bobby:
"Mrs Speckman means so much to me, she is so nice to the class she is also super funny. I love to see the class on flipgrid and I LOVE doing sphero balls"

Here's another shout out!

We appreciate Mrs Tracy Machalec! She’s been in constant contact with my daughter, with emails, google posts, live google meet ups and even wrote her a letter in the mail. This motivates my daughter in more ways than she knows❤

Another great year in the books! Congratulations to all of our amazing seniors! They will do great things!! 👩‍🎓 👨‍🎓
Attention Medina Families!!! I am looking for a loving, open host family who would consider hosting a very nice young man from Thailand named Phan. Phan had a family who was going to host him, but due to a family emergency they are unable to host him for this coming fall at Medina High School. I am hoping to find a loving, open-minded family to host Phan and help him experience the American culture and way of life. He is very excited to share his Thai culture, traditions and way of life with his future host family and is really looking forward to working hard to improve his English. In return he would love to teach your family Thai as well! Phan will be 17 years old in June and will be a 12th grader as an exchange student in the U.S.. He has had 13 years of English at school. He has two 4 1/2 year old sisters, with whom he likes to dance and spend time. He enjoys cooking/baking, photography, riding horses and travel. Here is a brief personal description from Phan about himself: My name is Phanuphong and I am coming to the USA from Thailand. I am an A-B student and I enjoy learning Japanese. I'm shy but assertive and I like to talk to other people. I enjoy music and play the cornet and like to sing. I like to cook and bake, take photos, travel and play games. I always help my family with the household chores. If Phan does not quite fit with your family hobbies and interests Niclas, who will be 16 in August, from Germany is also in need of a home and maybe Medina could accept him in place of Phan for your family. (both are anxiously awaiting a home). Niclas is a B-C student and his favorite subjects are Politics and Sports. He's a reliable and cheerful young man. He has played soccer since he was 5 years old and he enjoys playing tennis, American football, doing fitness, sailing and snow skiing. He loves nature and outdoor activities. Some of the benefits for your family of hosting an exchange student are to: - Learn about a new culture and language - Enrich your family and community - Make friends for life from around the world - Promote kindness and friendship - Directly affect how the world perceives the U.S. If you would like to host Phan for the coming 2018-2019 school year or would like more information about doing so, please contact me as soon as possible at [email protected] or send me a message and I will get back to you. More information can also be found at www.iseusa.org. Please share this post with others who in Medina on other sites who might be able to help as well! Sincere thanks for your help in advance!
Please consider volunteering for After-Prom. We need help decorating the night before, as well as the night of the event. We also need volunteers to donate desserts and fruit. We cannot do this without parental support.
