MEDINA COUNTY EMA LAUNCHES NEW EMERGENCY ALERTS SYSTEM

Residents must register with the new system to continue receiving emergency notifications

The Medina County Emergency Management Agency has transitioned to a new countywide emergency notification system. Residents and workers within Medina County are urged to register for the new Medina County Emergency Alerts system to continue receiving important emergency information.

Anyone who previously registered for emergency notifications through the former WENS system must register again through the new Regroup system. Existing registrations and contact information will not automatically transfer to the new system.

Medina County Emergency Alerts (Medina Alerts) is a free service provided by the Medina County Emergency Management Agency. During a local emergency, public safety officials can use the system to quickly send messages to the entire county or to people within a specific area. Alerts are based on the address provided during registration.

Alerts may be delivered through:
• Phone calls
• Text messages
• Email

Messages will provide information about the emergency and may include instructions residents should follow to protect themselves and their families. Medina Alerts may be used to communicate information regarding severe weather, hazardous conditions, evacuations, law enforcement situations, and other emergencies in which rapid and accurate information is essential for public safety.

Once registration information is submitted, the contact information is immediately added to the system’s database and the registrant is ready to receive applicable emergency messages.

Registration is free and available to all Medina County residents. Nonresidents working within Medina County are also strongly encouraged to register for this potentially life-saving service.

OPTIONAL WEATHER WARNING

Residents may also subscribe to optional weather warnings during registration. When the National Weather Service issues a warning, Medina Alerts will automatically send an alert to subscribers who selected that type of warning.

Weather alerts are based on the address provided during registration. An alert will be sent when the registered address falls within the warning area identified by the National Weather Service, regardless of the subscriber’s current location.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Residents who were registered with the former WENS system must sign up again to continue receiving alerts.

To register, visit the Medina County Emergency Management Agency website and select the Alert Registration button:

Residents are also encouraged to share registration information with family members, friends, neighbors, employees, and others throughout Medina County.

Those who have questions or need assistance registering may contact the Medina County Emergency Management Agency at 330-722-9240.

York Township is planning for the future.

As our community continues to grow, so do the demands placed on our Fire Department and Service Department. Our current facility no longer provides the space needed to efficiently house emergency apparatus, equipment, personnel, and the equipment required to maintain Township roads and infrastructure.
In the coming months, residents will have the opportunity to vote on a bond issue to fund an addition to the existing Township building. This project is designed to provide the room needed to better serve our community while making the most of our current facility.

This investment is about ensuring York Township is prepared to meet today’s needs and those of future generations by improving emergency response capabilities, supporting public works operations, and creating a safer, more functional workspace for our employees.

Over the next several weeks, we will share additional information about the proposed project, what it includes, the anticipated cost, and how it will benefit our residents. We encourage everyone to stay informed, ask questions, and join the conversation.

Together, we can continue building a stronger, safer York Township.
