Emergency Management also coordinates and maintains inventories of disaster resources in the county, both public and private, as well as plans for the effective utilization of resources in the county with the assistance of designated county departmental emergency management coordinators, appointed municipal directors, and volunteers. During this month’s scheduled test, some outdoor warning sirens in Hennepin County activated twice due to limitations in the older system. Our new system worked exactly as intended. We’re reviewing adjustments to help ensure sirens only sound once in the future.

🔊August 5th is Public Warning Drill Day! First Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. Remember, outdoor warning sirens are meant to be heard by those working or playing outside.

WEA Live Testing at noon in Long Lake on Aug 12, Tonka Bay on Aug 19, and Maple Grove on Aug 26.

EXTENSION UPDATE: An Extreme Heat Warning has been extended for Hennepin County until 9pm Friday, July 17.

Drink plenty of fluids, be in air-conditioning when available, check up on relatives and neighbors, stay out of the sun, and never leave anyone alone in a vehicle.
