Incorporated in 1832, The Village of Medina is currently served and protected by The Village of Medina Police Department. The Medina Police Department normally consists of a Chief, Lieutenant, 2 Sergeants, and 9 Patrolman. We serve the roughly 6500 residents of the Village of Medina and provide mutual aid to surrounding Departments and communities when requested. The Police Department has several

specialized areas and specially trained officers. The Department has a K9, Phoenix, and his Handler Ofc. Jacob Reeves that assist in enforcement by utilizing their unique training in areas of tracking as well as narcotics detection. The Department has an Officer that is assigned to the Medina School District as a School Resource Officer (SRO). Several members of the Department are also assigned to the Orleans County Multi-jurisdictional SWAT Unit as well as other specialized areas to better serve and protect the citizens in our community and County. The Department functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Today our on duty officers had a few moments to join in on the fun at NNO!🏃‍♂️🚒

There were a few friendly foot races, a chance to climb the Shelby ladder truck, and plenty of smiles along the way.

If you snapped any photos while you were there, we’d love to see them! Drop your favorites in the comments below. 📸

Reminder: National Night Out is tonight! We hope everyone who attends has a safe and enjoyable evening.

We had the pleasure of welcoming students from the Upward Bound Program to the Medina Police Department and Medina Fire Department!

Upward Bound is a federally funded college-preparation program that helps students build the academic skills, confidence, and resources they need to succeed in high school, prepare for college, and achieve their higher education goals. Through mentorship, academic support, career exploration, and enrichment opportunities, the program empowers students to reach their full potential.

Whether these students choose careers in law enforcement, firefighting, healthcare, education, business, or another path entirely, we hope today’s visit showed them that success comes in many forms and that every career has the opportunity to make a positive impact.

Thank you to the Upward Bound Program for spending part of your day with us. We wish each of these students the very best as they continue working toward their educational and career goals.

“Crikey! She’s an absolute beauty!” 🐢

Steve Irwin, I mean Officer Villegas, responded to a snapping turtle that had wandered a little too close to the playground at Butt’s Park.

With plenty of curious kids nearby, he carefully relocated the prehistoric-looking visitor to a safer spot where it could continue its day without becoming the main attraction.

No turtles were harmed in the making of this rescue. The only thing snapped was a photo. 📸

Thanks, Officer Villegas, for keeping both our community and our wildlife safe. Just don’t get any ideas about wrestling alligators next. 🐊😂

Last week, members of the Medina Police Department were proud to support Brett Sobrieski as he continued on day 6 of his incredible 8-day, 400-mile journey to raise money for Community Action of Orleans & Genesee while also honoring the memories of fallen City of Rochester Police Officers Daryl Pierson and Anthony Mazurkiewicz, along with Cleveland Division of Police Officer and Webster native Jamieson Ritter.

Officers Meredith, Brown, and Villegas laced up their boots and joined Brett for a few laps around the track to cheer him on and show our department’s support. The Medina Police Benevolent Association was also honored to make a donation to help further this meaningful cause.

Brett’s journey is a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have through dedication, service, and perseverance. We were grateful to be a small part of it.

Now we want to hear from you… What motivates you to get out there and stay active? Whether it’s your family, your health, a personal goal, or simply clearing your mind, share it with us in the comments. 💙👟

Another Bike Rodeo is in the books with the students of Oak Orchard Elementary!

We would like to thank the school staff for allowing us to be a part of this great event. It was wonderful to see all the smiles and impressive bike skills displayed by the students who participated.

We always enjoy opportunities like this to connect with our community's youth and help promote bicycle safety while having fun.
