In Miami, the work never stops and our missions demand a high tempo. But no matter how fast the pace or how demanding the mission, our agents are never too busy to train for excellence, precision and readiness.

We train so that when the call comes, we’re ready.

Always training. Always prepared. Always looking for the best to join our team at the U.S. Secret Service Miami Field Office.

We don’t slow down very often, so taking time to bring our team and their families together is something we truly value.

Recently, the U.S. Secret Service - Miami Field Office hosted our Family Appreciation Luncheon to recognize the dedication of our agents, task force officers, professional staff, and the families who support them every day.

Hosted by Acting Special Agent in Charge Michael Townsend and Assistant Special Agents in Charge Brian Deer, Greg Naranjo, and Jason Harris, the event gave families an opportunity to see where their loved ones work, tour our lobby memorabilia display, explore our armored limousines, and, thanks to our partnership with the Miami Dade Sheriff’s Office, meet K-9 teams, motorcycle units, and other specialized resources.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make the day a success, including those who set up our event, manned the grill, organized activities for the kids and provided child fingerprinting and identification packets for parents.

We are proud of our Miami team, our task force partners, and the families whose support makes our mission possible. We couldn’t do what we do without you.

Suits, ties, earpieces and sunglasses may be what the United States Secret Service is best known for, but our agents spend just as much time in training gear as they do in business attire. Whether it’s physical fitness, fi****ms proficiency or motorcade operations, readiness isn’t optional. Here in Miami, it’s non-negotiable. We’re not just building physically fit agents, we’re developing tactical athletes who are prepared to perform whenever and wherever the mission demands.

A sincere thank you to the leaders, instructors and subject matter experts across our field office who continue investing their time and expertise to create meaningful training opportunities for our team.

And to the men and women of the Miami Field Office, thank you for the work you put in—not just during the high-profile moments, but on the days when no one is watching. Your commitment to preparation, professionalism and excellence is what keeps this office operating at the highest level, and it’s what continues to set Miami apart.

It was an incredible six weeks working alongside our federal, state and local partners to help secure the FIFA World Cup here in Miami.

This was one of the largest and most complex security operations ever undertaken in our region, and its success was a direct result of the professionalism, preparation and teamwork of everyone involved.

The U.S. Secret Service Miami is proud to have played a role in delivering a safe and secure experience for our protectees and fans from around the world. Congratulations to all who made it possible, and to Spain on an outstanding championship run!

A South Florida title company was able to recover more than $1.4 million after falling victim to a business email compromise (BEC) scam during a real estate closing. The successful recovery highlights how critical immediate reporting can be when fraud is discovered.

After realizing the wire transfer had been sent to a fraudulent account, the company quickly contacted law enforcement. U.S. Secret Service Special Agent Leveson, who received the initial report, immediately began coordinating with the victim’s attorney, the sending bank, and fraud investigators at the receiving bank. He confirmed that the necessary recovery requests had already been submitted, contacted the receiving bank to request its cooperation, and helped ensure every available recovery measure was put into motion. That rapid coordination helped secure the funds before they could be transferred out of the fraudulent account.

“This case is a perfect example of why every minute matters,” said Acting Special Agent in Charge Michael Townsend. “The victim did exactly what they should have done by reporting the fraud immediately. That quick notification allowed our agents and banking partners to act before the money disappeared.”

Within days, the full $1.44 million was frozen and returned to the victim’s bank.

In addition to financial recovery efforts, U.S. Secret Service Network Intrusion Forensic Analysts are available to respond and conduct an in-person network intrusion forensic acquisition with the victim’s consent. As part of this response, analysts perform an initial assessment to determine which affected party was compromised. They identify how the compromise occurred, often through phishing emails, collect and preserve digital evidence, mitigate vulnerabilities, and provide additional recommendations to help ensure the victim’s email network is secure. This intervention helps prevent further incidents that could occur if the compromise is left unaddressed.

Cases like this show why the first few hours after discovering a business email compromise are so important. The sooner your financial institution and law enforcement are notified, the greater the chance investigators have to work with financial institutions to freeze fraudulent accounts and recover stolen funds. If a title company, law firm, lender, or business believes it has been the victim of a BEC scam, immediate notification to the U.S. Secret Service can make the difference between recovering the money and losing it permanently.

161 years ago today, the United States Secret Service began its mission with a singular purpose: protecting the nation’s financial system by combating the growing threat of counterfeit currency.

Over the past 161 years, that mission has expanded to include protecting the President, Vice President, former presidents, their families, visiting heads of state, and other national leaders.

What has never changed is the commitment of the men and women of the U.S. Secret Service to serve with integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering dedication to keeping America safe and secure.
