As the threat of wildfire danger continues to increase, the BLM Boise District and surrounding state and federal land management agencies will implement Stage 1 Fire Restrictions on lands within southwest Idaho effective August 7, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. Fire restrictions are intended to reduce the potential for human caused fires in the designated areas.

Stage 1 fire restrictions will be in place on federal, state and private forest and rangelands, roads, and trails, situated in Ada, Boise, Valley, Gem, Canyon, Elmore, Owyhee, Payette and Washington counties.

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions prohibit:
-Building or maintaining a wood-, charcoal-, or briquette-fueled fire outside of a permanent metal or concrete fire pit or grate that the Forest Service or BLM has installed and maintained at its developed recreation sites.

-Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, at a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material.

Neighbors helping neighbors. Melba Fire left early this morning with 2 more brush trucks to help with the aptly named Big Grass Fire.

A lot of resources showed up over night for The Big Grass Fire. Thank you.

Happy Father’s Day to the dads who serve behind the wheel, behind the badge, behind the hose, and behind the headset.

To the EMS dads, fire dads, police dads, dispatch dads, stepdads, bonus dads, grandpas, uncles, mentors, and father figures:

Your kids see more than you think.

They see the missed dinners.
They see the tired eyes.
They see the boots by the door.
They hear the radio.
They know the tones.
They feel the shift work.
They notice when you leave to help someone else’s family, then come home and still try to be present for your own.

Fatherhood is not just biology.

It is sacrifice.
It is protection.
It is patience.
It is showing up.
It is teaching strength without losing softness.
It is carrying the weight of the job and still making room for love at home.

To the EMS dads running calls today…
To the fire dads spending Father’s Day at the station…
To the police dads patrolling while their kids celebrate without them…
To the dispatch dads answering the voices nobody else hears…

Your sacrifice matters.
Your presence matters.
Your family sees you.
And so does this community.

Happy Father’s Day to the first responder dads.

The uniform may be what the world sees, but “Dad” is the title that matters most.

Today, we honor the moms who raised first responders, the wives who hold the home together while they answer the call, and the first responder moms who serve their communities and still come home to be “Mom.”

To the mothers who raised the ones who run toward danger - thank you.

To the wives who carry the worry, the long shifts, the missed holidays, the quiet sacrifices, and still show up with love - thank you.

To the first responder moms who work the calls, carry the weight, wipe the tears, pack the lunches, make the appointments, and somehow keep going - thank you.

This life is not easy. It takes strength, patience, faith, and a love that often goes unseen.

But today, we see you.

The moms.
The wives.
The women behind the uniform.
The women wearing the uniform.

You are the heartbeat behind so much of this life.

Happy Mother’s Day.
You are loved, appreciated, and deeply respected.

Have you been interested in the fire industry?

We welcome those that are interested in learning about our rural fire department to join us at our monthly meetings.

We are always looking for dedicated volunteers to serve our community.

Below is another resource to check out if you are interested in seeing what we do!

Boise Fire is hosting Ignite Bootcamp, a one-day, hands-on experience that gives participants the chance to explore a career in the fire service. You'll practice skills from climbing ladders to performing CPR, making this a unique opportunity to get well acquainted with Boise Fire. We are hosting four one-day Ignite Bootcamps between May 30 and June 7, with options for men, women, and youth. Applications until the end of March.
