Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and coworkers of Benton County Sheriff's Office Reserve Lieutenant and Centerton Police Department Captain Chris Kelly during this difficult time.

We ask that you keep all who knew and served alongside him in your thoughts and prayers in the days ahead.

Our law enforcement family is mourning the loss of a truly remarkable man.

After many years of dedicated service, Chris Kelley, a longtime Deputy Sheriff with the Benton County Sheriff's Office, (Reserve Lieutenant), and Captain with the Centerton Police Department, has passed away.

He was more than a badge and a uniform. He was a respected leader, a trusted mentor, a loyal friend, a devoted husband, and a servant to his community. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to others left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He led with integrity, treated people with respect, and earned the admiration of colleagues, friends, and community members alike. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched throughout his career and beyond.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who served alongside him during this difficult time.

Thank you for your service, your friendship, and the example you set for so many. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Rest easy, brother. We have the watch from here.

JAIL SCAM WARNING

May 29, 2026

The Izard County Sheriff’s Office is aware of a scam that has been reported in several nearby counties involving individuals incarcerated in local jails.

Scammers are using publicly available inmate roster information to contact family members and falsely claim that an inmate can be released from custody if money is sent immediately. In some cases, the caller may pretend to be a law enforcement officer, jailer, or other staff sheriff's office staff and use other inmate names to sound convincing.

If you receive a call regarding someone incarcerated in the Izard County Jail, please remember:
• We will NEVER call and demand payment for the release of an inmate.

• We DO NOT accept bond payments over the phone.

• Legitimate law enforcement officers will not pressure you to send money immediately.

If you receive a suspicious call involving an inmate at the Izard County Jail and the caller requests money to he sent or personal information, hang up immediately and contact the Sheriff’s Office directly at 870-368-4203.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post to protect others from becoming victims of this scam.

Memorial Day is Monday, and many of you will enjoy a long weekend — the unofficial start of summer.

This weekend while you celebrate with family and friends at cookouts, spending time at the river or lake, or enjoying other summertime activities, please take a moment to remember and honor those who gave their lives while wearing the uniform of the United States Armed Forces in defense of our freedoms.

Those sacrifices made it possible for us to enjoy the freedoms and opportunities we often take for granted, including the simple privilege of gathering with loved ones for a holiday weekend.

This Memorial Day, may we never forget the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price for our nation.

The Sheriff’s Office once again has a garden. We would like to thank GH Miller and Son’s for donating plants for the garden.

The garden provides fresh produce for meals served at the jail, helping reduce food costs while also providing fresh vegetables for those meals. Beyond improving meals, the program gives participating inmates the opportunity to contribute through community service.
