Throwing shade? Not us, we're just setting up our canopy!☀️

With Texas summer temperatures in full swing, we encourage park visitors to bring a pop-up canopy, umbrella, personal cloud (we don't judge!), or other portable shade options to help make their visit more comfortable.

To help protect our parks and underground irrigation systems, please secure all items with weights if needed, not stakes.

Thank you for helping us keep Melissa's parks safe, beautiful, and enjoyable for everyone. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and have fun!

🇺🇸 We need YOU to help make our Independence Day celebration unforgettable! 🇺🇸

We still have plenty of flag holder spots available for Sparks & Spangles on Friday, June 26, and we’d love for you to be part of this special event.

The commitment is simple: show up, hold a section of a large field flag, and take part in a meaningful moment of remembrance and celebration. Bring your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, or your entire group! Reminder, volunteers must be 14 years of age or older.

Want a front-row seat to one of Melissa's biggest celebrations of the year? 🎆

We're looking for 150 volunteers ages 14 and older to serve as flag holders during our 2026 Sparks & Spangles Independence Day Celebration! Flag holders will assist with the presentation of our large field flags during the event and must be available beginning at approximately 5:00 PM on the day of the event. More information will be sent to volunteers closer to the event date.

Due to the Melissa Library's Summer Kick-Off Event, Strength Training and Yoga classes scheduled for Saturday, June 6th have been canceled.

This Saturday, June 6, 2026, is Free Fishing Day in Texas, which means no fishing license is required to fish in public waters, but all other regulations still apply.

Gather your family, grab your fishing gear, and head to Melissa Lake Park or Lake Perry Fisher for a relaxing day by the water. Reminder, all of our lakes are catch and release only!
