The Melrose Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises private funds to provide grants to Melrose Public School educators for new initiatives. We envision a community mobilized in support of a high-performing, innovative, school district that engages all students, empowers educators to try bold, new ideas, and creates a student body that makes a difference in an ever-changing world.

Can grants help students become readers?
Yes! Some of our MPS educators have been working to pilot UFLI - a research based phonics program. A key piece is “sound boards” which let students move the 80 (!) sounds in the English language. MEF grants have brought high quality, robust materials into these classrooms - ones that will stand up to little hands for many years.
