***PRESS RELEASE***
ON DUTY CITY WORKER ALLEGEDLY SELLING GRASS INSTEAD OF CUTTING IT
In the early morning hours of 5/29/26, Agents from the 28th Judicial District out of Brownsville served a search warrant in the 200 block of Sunlyn Ave.
This investigation began months ago when Agents began receiving complaints of a City of Brownsville employee allegedly selling narcotics while on the clock with the city.
Earlier this week, a Brownsville Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on the suspect after work hours and recovered nearly an ounce of ma*****na and associated paraphernalia for resale.
During the search warrant served by the Task Force this morning, Agents caught the suspect in a city work uniform getting into his truck to go to work. Agents recovered approximately 340 grams (3/4 lb.) of individually packaged bags of ma*****na for resale along with a set of digital scales from the employee’s personal vehicle and $1,553.00 in suspected drug proceeds from the suspect’s pockets. Agents also recovered additional ma*****na, scales and baggies from inside of the Sunlyn Ave residence.
One male was arrested and is being charged with possession of schedule VI with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The City of Brownsville was aware of the investigation and cooperated fully with Agents. Agents were assisted in the investigation and warrant service by the Brownsville Police Department and charges are being prosecuted by The Office of the District Attorney General, 28th Judicial District of Frederick Agee.
