Sometimes it’s the same arguments, miscommunication, or just feeling disconnected.

If your family has a youth ages 13–18 and could use some extra support, we’re partnering with HoneyBee Wellness & Consulting and Magnificence of Melanin with Mags to help youth and their parent/caregiver strengthen communication and reconnect. 💙

The Youth and Family Resource Center in Raleigh transformed into a skate haven this past weekend as families gathered for the Youth on Deck skateboard giveaway. Young people enjoyed a day of fun, community, and outdoor recreation. The nearby skatepark in Commissioner Caswell's district is a great place to keep the fun rolling all summer long.

The fun has officially begun! 🛹

Last week, we hosted a skateboard giveaway at the YFRC, and it looks like some of our recipients are already putting their new boards to good use (with their safety gear, of course! 😉).

We even spotted one furry friend getting in on the action. 🐈

There’s nothing better than seeing young people excited, active, and enjoying something new. We love to see it and can’t wait to do it again!

There are moments when we keep having the same arguments, struggle to communicate, or feel like we’re not really hearing each other. Sometimes we know the challenge, we just need support figuring out how to move forward together.

If your family is experiencing:
• Frequent arguing or conflict
• Difficulty communicating
• Feeling disconnected
• Challenges with respect or understanding each other

We’ve got support for you. 💙

We are partnering with HoneyBee Wellness & Consulting and Magnificence of Melanin with Mags to provide an opportunity for youth and their parent/caregiver to receive support together, strengthen communication, and build stronger connections.

Youth must be ages 13–18 to participate.

Today we’re celebrating our Assessment Manager, Antario Dotson, as he starts his next adventure. We’re sad to see him go, but so grateful for all he’s poured into the YFRC, our team, and the youth we serve.

Thank you to our partners who joined us for the Shelby County Youth & Family Resource Center Open House last Friday!

We enjoyed the chance to showcase how the YFRC works alongside community stakeholders to support youth and families across Shelby County. By coordinating with partner organizations and providing key resources on-site, we help make connections to the right services when families need them most.

We appreciate our stakeholders time, insight, and commitment to strengthening the support network for youth in our community! 💚🧡
