Wow! What an awesome weekend. We just participated in two full days of powerful ministry in action. Am humble to have had, God's anointing poured over my life and my son's life. It began on Friday night as we prepared to go to sleep; we began to speak into existence the plans we had for Saturday, starting with the yard sale and the car wash. So God wakes us up at 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning, we get dress, load the car up and began our journey toward the Promised Land 4523 Sweet Whisper Lane. Now as we are driving down Shelby Drive it looks like the skies are about to release the great flood of Noah’s day. The clouds are low, dark and rolling like tumble weeds in the Arizona desert.
I look at little Reginald and I ask him to pray and ask God to hold off the rain. So I cut the music all the way down, cause I need him to focus and clear his little young mind of all the outside chatter, because we need a break through. As we pull into the subdivision he says Dad I prayed and I asked God to let it rain for 45 minutes to water the earth, then stop it so we can do our fundraising. Now mind you he is 10 years old and he already understands the power of prayer and that we serve an all-powerful God that controls the winds and the rains.
So for Team Nairobi we all know what happened, God sealed the rain gates shut for us to be able to carry out our mission.
I could stop there but there is so much more to this powerful testimony. The Yard Sale was the beginning of God's Glory, what a perfect location for mission work. We are sitting in the heart of a still developing robust subdivision with new housing construction still under way. Our first customers were a group of Hispanic construction workers building on a house about three homes down. This started a steady stream of people stopping by to check our wares. Still no sign of rain, in the mist of the noise from the saws, hammers and nail guns we watched as a neighborhood came a live and as people began to stir and move about the words of a yard sale began to echo through the row of houses that line this little community.
You would have had to have been there to experience and witness the power of God and what happens when he shows up. From there so of us moved down and set up camp in Cordova, TN. Reminded me of what it must have been like for Joshua and the children of Israel as they prepared to take the land of Jericho. For two days we marched around the land of Cordova, shouting to the people: “Car Wash for Hope Church, Kenya mission trip and finally the wall began to fall down and the people started coming in. The people of Cordova had heard that God’s people had set up camp at Germantown Parkway/Trinity and they were not moving until we had washed every car that the Lord of Host had given unto us.
Many, Many thanks to our awesome volunteers especially Katelyn and little Reginald, who took a leap of faith and picked up the mantle of Christ. They were tireless warriors who never waiver or stumbled at any task given to them. I would be honored to have them on my team for next year’s trip. The power and the impact of these young sprites would bring and indelible and invaluable imprint to our team. We are forever indebted to you both for the personal sacrifice that you all made in order that we might have two days of successful fundraising. You guys rock for Christ. Young Disciples on fire for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To my Son whom am well please. A young soldier, I am honored and highly blessed to have you as a son. What a personal gift God has bestowed on me in my old age. I know how Jacob felt about Joseph whom he loved. Little Reginald walked on the battle field for Christ early Saturday and Sunday morning and each day was one of the last young men standing at the ninth hour. I am so proud of him and I am even more grateful for the way my team members loved on him. Thank you Team Nairobi.
To Team Nairobi, I leave you with these words of exhortation, I hope and I pray that we collectively as well as individually will walk into the purpose for which we all have been called. For it is written many are called but few are chosen. For we know the harvest is plentiful but the labors are few.
Jesus left us an example, he chose 12 disciples to walk with him during his years of ministry. Now He has given unto us 10 disciples to start a mighty great work in Nairobi Kenya. We are blessed and highly favored.
For He has given us the “Keys to the Kingdom”
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
May, “The Great Commission” become our song of Zion. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
