Dress for Success is a worldwide organization that solves the catch-22 that confronts disadvantaged women trying to enter the workforce: without a job, how can you afford a suit? But without a suit, how can you get a job? Our mission has expanded beyond the suiting program; however, it remains a crucial part of our work and a vital first-step in a woman's journey toward self-sufficiency. Each Dress for Success Memphis client receives one suit when she has a job interview and additional apparel when she becomes employed. Our goal is for each woman to leave Dress for Success Memphis with a complete outfit that will help her feel confident in her interview and land a job. PROFESSIONAL WOMEN"S GROUP:
The Professional Women's Group (PWG) is a program we have that is a networking and support service offered to the Dress for Success Memphis clients who have obtained employment. The PWG meets monthly for a host of activities that help with transitioning into the workforce. The meetings focus on written and unwritten rules of the workpace, financial literacy, and work/life balance. Dinner and childcare are provided! THE CAREER CENTER:
Women who have been assisted by Dress for Success Memphis and are still unemployed after 60 days can be assisted in finding a job through the Dress for Success Memphis Career Center. The center has free access to computers with Internet access and a fax machine available for clients to use. Clients can search for jobs online, send their resumes and schedule interviews right from the center. Additionally, they can receive help writing or improving their resumes and cover letters. Interview coaching and mock interviews with clients help them become more confident during their interviews. Contact us!
