Monday — Respect Starts With How We Treat People
This week, our PRIDE focus is R — Respect. At Mena High School, respect means treating people, places, and opportunities like they matter. It shows in how you speak to others, how you respond when you're frustrated, and how you take care of our school. You don't have to agree with everyone to treat them with respect.

Bearcats, this week’s Morphology Matters word is “AUD” which mean “hear”. You probably already use several AUD words without realizing they are connected. Our MHS word is AUDITORY which is related to hearing. So if your teacher gives you auditory instructions, you’re receiving information by hearing rather than seeing or reading it. Listen for AUD words like AUDIO, AUDIBLE, AUDIENCE, AUDITION, and AUDITORIUM. Somehow each connects back to hearing or being heard. How many words can you find this week that connect to hearing or listening?

🔎Senior baby photos are due to Ms. Albin by September 1

Anyone interested in joining FBLA this year can bring your $20 for dues to Mrs. Torix, Mrs. Powell. It is also time to register for our FBLA district conference - If you would like to attend, it will cost an additional $15. You can bring it all together to the meeting Friday, Sept 4th during Lunch B.

This week's root is aud, meaning hear. Students will explore how words connected to hearing and listening share this common root.

LADYCAT ULTRA is a 12-hour road and dirt endurance challenge where runners must complete a 3.22-mile loop every hour, on the hour. Each lap must be completed within the allotted hour to remain in the event. Finish early, and you earn valuable recovery time before the next round begins. Fail to complete a lap within the hour, and your race is over.

Survive the first 11 rounds, and you'll advance to the 12th and final round, where the remaining runners will race head-to-head to determine the overall champion.

This event isn't just about speed. It's about pacing, strategy, discipline, and mental toughness. Whether your goal is to complete all 12 rounds or compete for the win, the challenge remains the same: show up every hour, push your limits, and keep going.

All proceeds from the Ladycat Ultra will go towards Ladycat athletics exclusively.

Since all funds will go to the Ladycats then we want the Ladycats involved. The plan is to have them be the crew for race over many shifts.

Imagine finishing your 5k in 52 minutes and you have 8 minutes to go to bathroom, refill water bottle and grab some food until getting back in the corral for the bell to ring to start again. The Ladycats will fill your water and make you a pancake, cheese quesadilla, fruit, etc. so you can prioritize bathroom and rest.
