**JEFFERSON RESOURCE CENTER UPDATE**

The Jefferson Park Resource Distribution Center will be closing as we continue moving into the next phase of tornado recovery.

A limited amount of basic supplies will still be available in the lobby of the Elisha D. Smith Public Library for residents with immediate needs. Supplies may include basic food, hygiene items, and other essentials, depending on availability.

Recovery resources are NOT going away. We are simply transitioning away from the temporary Jefferson distribution site and encouraging residents to begin using the long-term resources already available throughout our community.

Organizations such as St. Joseph Food Program, St. Vincent de Paul Neenah-Menasha, the Community Clothes Closet, 211, and other local partners will continue helping residents in the weeks and months ahead.

The library location will not be accepting donations.

We will continue sharing updates as resources shift and as additional long-term recovery assistance becomes available.

‼Winnebago County Solid Waste is graciously hosting a special Household Hazardous Materials collection for households impacted by the July 27th tornado and severe weather. ‼️

• This event is ONLY for materials coming from residential properties; items from businesses or farms will not be accepted.
• To ensure the event serves impacted residents, proof of residency (driver's license, utility bill, insurance policy card, or other mailed document) will be required at check-in.
• Appointments are encouraged and will be prioritized to support an efficient process.

FEDERAL DISASTER DECLARATION UPDATE

Governor Tony Evers has submitted a request to the President for a FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency federal disaster declaration following the July 27 tornado.

So, what does that mean for our community? This is another important step in the process, but it is important to understand that federal assistance has NOT been approved at this point.

The request will now move through FEMA and the federal review process before a decision is made on whether a disaster declaration will be approved and what types of assistance, if any, may become available.
There is no guaranteed timeline for a decision, and there is also no guarantee that every type of federal assistance being requested will ultimately be approved. This process can take several weeks or longer.

If a declaration is approved, we will work to get information out quickly about what assistance is available, who may qualify, and how residents can apply.

In the meantime, recovery work here in Menasha continues. We will keep working with our county, state, federal, nonprofit, and community partners and will continue sharing information as soon as we have it.

As our community moves further into long-term recovery, we want to keep highlighting the local organizations that will continue to be here for families impacted by the tornado.

The Community Clothes Closet is one of those resources.

If you or your family lost clothing, shoes, or other personal items because of the storm, the Community Clothes Closet can help connect you with what you need.

Resources like this will remain an important part of helping families replace what was lost and continue moving forward through recovery.

Starting this school year, the Menasha Health Department and Menasha Joint School District have partnered with Partnership Community Health Center to provide preventive dental care to MJSD students in their schools.

While the school-based dental program will be managed differently than in past years, students will continue to have access to the same important preventive dental services!

Available dental services:
-Dental screenings
-Fluoride varnishes
-Dental Sealants
-Referrals made as needed

TORNADO CLEANUP: ELECTRONICS RECYCLING EVENT

If you have electronics, appliances, or other plugged-in items that were damaged by the tornado, this upcoming recycling event may be a good way to safely dispose of them. It is also a great opportunity to recycle a wide variety of other items while supporting a good cause. Rick's Toybox, Inc. is helping sponsor this electronics recycling event, and we cannot thank them enough for this.

The City of Menasha is beginning to wind down some of its tornado debris collection efforts.

**Building material storm debris will continue to be collected through Friday, August 28.** Materials placed on the terrace after that date will not be collected as part of the tornado cleanup effort.

The City of Menasha is beginning to wind down some of its tornado debris collection efforts.

**Building material storm debris will continue to be collected through Friday, August 28.** Materials placed on the terrace after that date will not be collected as part of the tornado cleanup effort.

Storm debris is scattered waste, wreckage, and natural material left behind by high winds, heavy rain, flooding, or other severe weather. Storm-related building debris may include loose materials such as:

* Siding
* Roof shingles
* Construction wood
* Fencing
* Other loose structural materials damaged by the storm

Furniture, remodeling debris, tires, and other regular bulky items are not part of this collection. Tires are drop-off only. Other bulky items should be handled through the City’s normal bulky item program.

If an entire structure needs to be torn down, disposal of those materials is the responsibility of the property owner. A raze permit is also required through the City’s Community Development Department.

**Vegetative debris collection will continue for the time being.** This includes larger brush, branches, and trees. Small amounts of leaves and branches may be placed curbside in biodegradable paper bags.

The City will provide at least one week of notice before vegetative debris collection ends.

Thank you for your patience as crews continue working through the remaining storm cleanup.
