❤️ PLEASE KEEP TEEN CHALLENGE IN YOUR PRAYERS ❤️

As many of you may have heard, the Teen Challenge Georgetown House was struck by lightning last night and was tragically destroyed by fire.

My heart breaks for these men. They were in that home trying to rebuild their lives, taking steps toward a better future, and then in just a few moments, everything they had was gone. This time, it wasn’t because of a bad decision or something they did—it was simply a devastating act of nature.

These men have already walked through some difficult places in life. The last thing they need right now is to find themselves without a home.

Please pray for every man who was living there. Pray for their hearts, their families, and for God to give them peace and strength in the middle of something none of them ever expected.

Please also pray for Teen Challenge as they work to find safe places for these men to go and figure out what comes next.

And let’s remember something that is easy to overlook: every night in Mississippi, more than 1,000 people experience homelessness. These men could very easily become part of that number because of this tragedy.

So if you can help, please help. If you have something you can give, give. If you know someone who can help, reach out. And if nothing else, share this post so it can reach somebody who can make a difference.

Most importantly, pray. 🙏

Let’s not let these men face this alone.

If you’re able, please consider giving directly to Teen Challenge to help them care for these men and begin rebuilding what was lost.

❤️ Pray. Share. Give. Help where you can.

Sometimes all somebody needs is for another person to care enough to step up and say, “You’re not alone.”

❤️ COME AS YOU ARE — MEANS OF GRACE CHURCH ❤️

Looking for a simple, hometown country church where you can come just as you are? Come join us at Means of Grace Church!

📍 1286 East St., Mendenhall, MS 39114

🙏 SUNDAY MORNING — 10:00 AM

We’ll begin with worship and music led by Roxy and Mark, followed by a message from Dr. Matthew Pharis.

I’ve been sitting under Pastor Matthew’s teaching for about three years, and I can honestly say God has gifted him with a special ability to teach His Word. If you’ve got a hunger for the Word of God, come expecting!

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” — Matthew 5:6

After Pastor Matthew’s message, our regular service will conclude. If you’d like to stay, Pastor Pete will be leading an Old Testament study through the book of Exodus. You’re more than welcome to join us — I know I’ll be there!

🤠 JUST A SIMPLE COUNTRY CHURCH

We’re not fancy, and we don’t expect you to be.

Come dressed up or come in jeans. Wear a hat or leave it at home. Just come!

We’re a small church that’s growing as the Lord gives the increase. Our desire is simple: to worship Jesus, hear His Word, and grow closer to Him together.

🍽️ TUESDAY NIGHT — 6:00 PM

Every Tuesday we gather for Life Recovery, starting with a meal at 6:00 PM.

Life Recovery isn’t just about drugs and alcohol. It’s for whatever life’s hangups may be holding you back. And if recovery isn’t what you’re looking for, that’s okay! You’re still welcome to come eat, fellowship, and join one of our other Bible study groups.

No pressure. No pretending. Just a place to come, hear from God, and be around people who care.

If that sounds like the kind of church you’ve been looking for, come on by. We’d love to have you. ❤️

Well, it’s that time of the month again… time to pay the bills and keep the doors open at Matthew 25:40 Ministries. ❤️

Here go the guys, loading out a whole semi-trailer full of bags of clothes so we can get them moved into another trailer. And let me tell you, doing this in this Mississippi heat is no joke! 🥵

A few of our guys were in a car accident last night, and they were hurt pretty bad. Thankfully, they’re going to be okay, but they’ve got some healing ahead of them. 🙏 We’re a little short-handed right now, but the guys who are able to help are giving it everything they’ve got.

This is one of the ways God provides for this ministry. It may not look like much to some folks—just a bunch of guys moving bags of clothes—but this is what helps keep our doors open. The money from this helps pay the electric bill, gas, water, insurance, and all the other expenses that come with keeping a shelter running.

It’s hard work, especially in this heat, but these guys don’t complain. They show up and give it everything they’ve got. And I’m proud of every one of them.

I’ve learned one thing over and over again: when there’s a need, God always makes a way. 🙏

So please, keep those guys who were hurt in your prayers, and while you’re at it, pray for every man here at Matthew 25:40 Ministries. Every one of these men is fighting their own battles, and we believe God has a purpose and a plan for each one of them.

Thank y’all for supporting us, praying for us, encouraging us, and believing in what God is doing here. We couldn’t do it without y’all.

I hope you enjoy the pictures and get a little glimpse of what happens behind the scenes. It ain’t always easy, but God has been faithful every step of the way.

God bless every one of y’all, and I hope you have an amazing day! ❤️🙏

Pastor Matthew’s Message.

Pastor Matthew’s message this morning really hit home with me, especially because of the men we get here at the shelter.

Some of these guys come through our doors pretty rough. They’ve been living a certain way for a long time, and sometimes our first thought is, “We need to change their behavior.”

So we start laying down rules, trying to make them do right. Sometimes we can act like they’re a nail and we’re a hammer, just beating those rules into them.

But the truth is, that ain’t what changes a man.

Rules might make somebody do right for a little while, but rules don’t change the heart. Behavior modification might make you act different on the outside, but only God can transform what’s on the inside.

And that’s what Pastor Matthew’s message reminded me of today.

A lot of churches can get caught up in “do-rightism.” Don’t wear this. Don’t do that. Sit here. Don’t sit there. Don’t wear a hat. Don’t act like this. Rules, rules, rules.

But Jesus didn’t come just to make us better rule-followers.

He came to make us new.

Paul said, “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on…”

I haven’t arrived. I sure haven’t. But I’m pressing on.

The power of the resurrection means we don’t have to stay slaves to sin. We can be set free. We can walk in holiness and righteousness. We can go from being a slave to sin to being a slave to righteousness.

And yes, you might walk today and feel like you’re doing everything right, then tomorrow you might mess it all up.

That’s when you get back up, pick up your cross daily, and keep following Jesus.

That’s what I want for the men here at the shelter.

Not just to teach them a bunch of rules and make them act right while they’re here.

I want them to experience the love of Jesus so deeply that God changes their heart.

Because when God changes the heart, the behavior starts changing too.

They don’t follow the rules because somebody is standing over them with a hammer.

They start doing what’s right because God has changed what’s inside of them.

I’m not saying I’ve got this all figured out either. I’m still a work in progress. I still fall short. I still need Jesus every single day.

But I believe with all my heart that rules can modify behavior, but only Jesus can transform a heart.

And that’s the kind of transformation I want to see in these men. ❤️🙏

A LITTLE HELP WITH SOME FOOD ❤️

Here at Matthew 25:40 Ministries Men’s Shelter in Mendenhall, we have men come through our doors for all kinds of reasons, but one thing they all have in common is that they’re experiencing homelessness and trying to get back on their feet.

A lot of these men come to us with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They’re starting completely over. We help them get a job, save some money, work toward getting a car if they need one, and eventually save enough to move into a place of their own.

And while they’re here, we get the opportunity to love on them, pray with them, and most importantly, pray that they have an encounter with Jesus that changes their life.

But sometimes people forget that when a man comes here, he may not have family or anybody else he can call and say, “Hey, can you help me with something to eat?”

Right now, we have three gentlemen here who came with nothing, and they’re in need of some food.

We want to be clear about something. We don’t normally supply food for the men. Sometimes folks bless us with food donations, and when that happens, we’re thankful and we share what we can. But food is not something we’re always able to provide.

So today, we’re asking if there’s anybody out there who would be willing to bless these three men with some food while they work on getting back on their feet. It would mean more than you know.

Matthew 25:40 says:

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

When you help one of these men, you’re not just helping a man who needs a meal. You’re showing the love of Jesus.

We don’t make requests like this often, but right now there’s a need, and we’re trusting God to provide.

If you’re able to help, or if you have any questions, please reach out to us. We’ll be glad to answer any questions you have.

Thank y’all for loving on these men and for always supporting what God is doing here at Matthew 25:40 Ministries.

God bless y’all, and have a great day. ❤️🙏@

All right y’all, it was a pretty amazing night!

As y’all know, every Tuesday night we meet at Means of Grace Church for a good home-cooked meal and now as of Tuesday a “Life Recovery” meeting. Well, this Tuesday night one of our own got up and preached the Word of God — Big Scott!

I haven’t known Scott for a real long time, but I’ll tell you, he’s one of those folks that’s pretty easy to get attached to. He’s got a good sense of humor, and he sure don’t mind getting laughed at, especially when he starts talking so darn funny! 😂

But seriously for a minute, Scott is one of us. He came into the shelter and pretty quick just fell right into place and became part of the family.

It’s plain to see God has a calling on this man’s life. I believe God has called him to preach His Word and one day to shepherd a flock. And I believe God is gonna use him in a mighty way.

Now, I just had to pick on him a little bit. 😂

Here’s some pictures I wanted to share of Big Scott getting up there and preaching. Believe me, it takes a lot to stand up in front of folks and bring a message. I couldn’t do it, that’s for sure!

But praise God for Scott and for giving him the courage to stand up and share what God has put on his heart.

Stay strong, brother. Keep your eyes on Jesus and remember what the Word says:

“ Having done all two stand, Stand therefore…” — Ephesians 6:14

Keep standing, Scott. God ain’t finished with you yet! 🙏❤️
