At Approx 5:22 am this Saturday Morning the 6th, Mendon Fire was called to Mutual Aid Brunswick Fire for a fully engulfed apartment building fire. Mendon responded with their Engine and Tanker as well as 6 firemen for man power. When fire crews showed up on scene all occupants were out of the building. In rural areas it is nice to be able to work closely with neighboring fire districts and help each other out.

On Thursday October 9th, the Northwestern Preschool and Kindergarten classes had the incredible opportunity to meet Mendon’s inspiring Fire Chief Austin Rash and Assistant Chief Chase Young, and embark on a thrilling tour of the fire house to discover the vital importance of emergency preparedness. The kids were empowered with life-saving skills, including stop, drop, and roll, fire extinguisher use, and dialing 911 presentations. They also got to explore the amazing tools and gear worn by brave firefighters during a fire. As a grand finale to the tour, every child earned their certification to spray water from an actual fire hose, beaming with pride and excitement. Fun and learning merged seamlessly, and we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated teachers for continually bringing our young minds together to learn valuable lessons on fire safety.

Tonight, Mendon Fire undertook general training, emphasizing the proper use of SCBA packs. A mock scenario was created at the fire house, with fog added to simulate real-world conditions. This essential skill requires regular retraining due to its complexity and physical demands. There are a couple short videos in the comments. One of them will show just how hard to see it can be.

Late last night we received the devastating news that our beloved friend and coworker Terri Moser succumbed to her illness and passed away at approximately 10:20 pm. We are absolutely devastated and heartbroken. We ask for prayers for Marvin and her family as we will forever miss and remember Terri as the Story Teller of our 911 Center. Many of you that have called 911 in the past might have even talked with Terri and not known it. We will continue with our fund raising efforts throughout this month to help the family with expenses. Thank you to everyone who has donated and bought raffle tickets.

Terri Lynn Moser EOW April 17, 2025. We will miss you. 😢
